For example, drag performance. It has a long tradition in American culture (and world history), including and ESPECIALLY in the military. The right-wing thinks it's porno. Can the right-wing stop assaulting the rest of us with their perverted thoughts? There's nothing wrong with finding drag performers attractive, but please don't assume that the rest of us put it in a sexual context. It's just art and entertainment for normal people.

Without drag and concepts of gender non-conformity in culture and art, there would be no David Bowie. No Prince.

This latest culture / social war going on between modern liberalism and modern conservatism is so far off the rails there is no coming back.

Both sides are guilty. One side advocates for freedom, equality, and leaving everyone alone -- and the other side engages in borderline genocidal rhetoric while passing laws against their existence. Who can really say who is to blame?

Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger was attempting to get a Section 8 discharge by posing as a gay person. Since everyone knew he was a phony it didn’t fly. But casting the character today as someone mentally unfit to serve wouldn’t fly either, except not for the reason you stated.

I am sure you feel that way, but now that we are seeing conservative states go one direction and liberal states go another it is pretty obvious there is no consensus but effectively another subject resulting in 2 Americas.

More that the subject itself is now in a place that there is no discussion, only vilification of the other side.

Example, transgenders. I can say that once of age, call it 18 for argument's sake, then I have no issue with what someone wants to do. But if I say a 13 or 14 year old is entirely unprepared to make these life altering, in cases irreversible, decisions then I am called a transphobe.

Ask yourself this question.

When was the last time you remember conservatives being up on the right side of history when it comes to an issue of equality or social justice?

Time after time they have had to be dragged, kicking and screaming. Same sex marriage. Interracial marriage. Civil rights. Women's suffrage. The end of slavery. Just because there is pushback against treating people decently doesn't mean it is in any way right or coming from a good place.

That is where we are.

I think if you express your concerns on the subject in a thoughtful way while also acknowledging the decision isn't up to you, but the individual in question and their doctors, few people, if any, would call you a transphobe.

If said concern revolves more around attacking the rights of certain groups to even exist in a public setting, that is when it becomes something else. Transphobia/homophobia is insinuating someone shouldn't use a bathroom because they are a pedophile who is looking to rape your kid in a stall. It's wanting books banned for sexuality just for acknowledging a gay person exists when the vast majority of literature throughout history have heterosexual relationships as prominent parts of the plot.

Just let people be themselves. They aren't hurting you. They aren't hurting anyone else. And all they are asking for is a basic level of respect. It's not really a hard ask.

I'd call you willfully ignorant, since gender affirming care rarely involves surgery under the age of 18.

Republican ideology is based on selfishness, greed, funnel wealth to the elite few. The culture war is designed to obfuscate this objective.
