The problem with religion

I totally agree.

Only....cross out "Islam"....and insert "religion". (y) 💯

Christianity has the "do unto others ..." golden rule. Islam does not. When Mohamed was asked what makes a perfect Muslim, he replied, "That you surrender your heart to Allah and that the Muslims are safe from your tongue and hand."

That clearly indicates that non-Muslims are NOT safe from "your tongue and hand".

But most, if not all religions share something in common: they are based on myth and superstion. Neither can any demonstrate their particular god/s exist. The only difference is the tenets of their particular beliefs.

Yup. The lazy part occurs when people, minus any actual knowledge, lump all religious tenets together and pretend they're all just different sides of the same die.

Unless one is homosexual, female, or of a different belief system. Then the rule becomes a little more, flexible.

The rule stays the same. Individual sects/people create flexibility out of it.

“Do unto all men as you would wish to have done unto you; and reject for others what you would reject for yourself.”

Trivia: who said that?

The problem is people. Same old story I suppose.

I've heard that and tried to find the exact hadith it's from. I can't. Can you provide the hadith, and by that I mean compilation, volume, and hadith number? Thanks.

Equating all religions is false, disingenuous, and incredibly lazy.

Islam stands for everything that progressive and freedom-loving people hate, yet here they are bending over backwards to defend that about which they know virtually nothing.
Why not after all it is not as if there is a god commanding them. They are just people using a god to get something they want.

And yet strangely enough I meet islamics who want the things you have just listed while other religions like christianity would gladly return us to the dark ages.

Ever heard of Occam's razor? Islamic mujahadeen claim to be obeying Allah's commands as found in the Qur'an. Sometimes the easiest and most obvious causes are as they appear.

You really don't care how stupid a rebuttal sounds, as long as you find a way to say, "IS NOT!"

That what you say is true for some still does not give me a reason to think all muslims believe that. Especially when I can see evidence that tells me muslims also seek a peaceful existence and nothng more.

Nobody ever said they did. Please show ONE post where anyone said that. I won't hold my breath.

A plurality of Muslims in Pakistan voted for presidential candidates who supported the death penalty for blasphemy against Islam. Peaceful existence? Sound peaceful to you?????

It is not so much as you have said those words. It is more a case of it is implied when you quote the koran to back you. Because all muslims follow the same koran but like all theists will interpret to suite their needs.

Yeah! Pakistan is not really on my bucket list of places to visit and go piss in a temple.

Lemme show ya how it works. Here's a hadith for you, and you'll see I give the complete reference for it:

Bukhari, Volume: 1, Book Number: 3, Hadith Number: 111, Narrated Ash-Sha'bi:
"No Muslim should be killed in Qisas (equality in punishment) for the killing of (a disbeliever)".

See? You try it now.

Soooooo, that's a 'no'. You can't provide a quote. Thanks.

Nope. Not even close. I've said repeatedly that I'm only quoting what Muslims are told to believe. See the difference?

Because all muslims follow the same koran but like all theists will interpret to suite their needs.

Ah yes, the old 'interpretation' dodge. That's a wholly gratuitous claim.

Yeah! Pakistan is not really on my bucket list of places to visit and go piss in a temple.

Try that in any Muslim country and see how you do (btw, that would be mosque, not temple).

No, you are quoting what you want muslims to believe.

Amusing that I play the interpretation game when your entire argument rests on an interpretation.

Not all muslims live in muslim countries.

And my argument does not condone their actions but does recognise they are an evil lot. While still recognising that the religion is not at fault just the people who interpret it.

Well that's laughable nonsense. He didn't write the source material, he didn't brainwash children with it, and he didn't force Muslims to proudly declare it.

Gratuitous denial with a strawman on the side.

I see no reason to continue trying to talk to you.

True. All he is doing is what any fanatic will do. Interpret only the parts of the koran that fit his neurotic fear of muslims.

This pathetic gaslighting won't help you.

Fanatic? You bastardize the word and it embarrasses you.

The parts of the Koran he mentions are quoted by the real fanatics to justify doing fanatical things.

You retreat to gaslighting and ad hominem in the face of withering facts and arguments.

You have got to be kidding. in you sad little rant you manage to point out I am right in saying that only fanatics bother with quoting the parts that this fanatical hater of muslims is always quoting.

His heels are firmly dug in. A million mujahadeen all chanting verses 9:29 and 9:111 in unison while burning the Vatican to the ground would not make him admit that the Qur'an guides their every move. Sadly, there are far too many like him. The collective 'West' has been utterly cowed.
