the postal service in the USA has become worse and worse

It was never good in this century.

And now it has become worse.

Have you noticed?

Works fine for me in the USA, how is it working out for you in Europe ?

Besides, as an American (with trump in charge), why should we/I care what you think ?

;)

The postal service is no longer a "service," just another government driven fiasco and employment mechanism with no quality of service and no hope for improvement.

How would you know?

Same thing for public schools, public housing projects, and so on and so forth.

Oppose all Tweety efforts at subverting our national public infrastructure. This too shall pass, especially if we show up and vote against it.

I haven't noticed that at all, quite the contrary. Yesterday, I went to pick up my mail at the mailbox at the curb. The mailman was pulled in front of my next door neighbor's house. He had to get out of his truck and walk uphill to the front door of my neighbor's house to deliver a big package. It looked like a soft package like a big bedspread wrapped up. Our mail carriers are doing much more front door walking deliveries than I've ever seen them do before. As he walked back to his truck, I said to him "working hard I see" and he just answered "yes ma'am". I gave him the thumbs up sign.

Privatize it.

Solution...leave a card in the mail box there is a package waiting for you at the post office. If the postal service needs to succeed they need to cut their days their service and delivery.

Most post offices have cut their hours due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, the USPS has been running a deficit for 11 years now.

The USPS has pleaded for more freedom to raise stamp prices to help keep pace with consumer demands for ever-quicker deliveries from online shopping. People hardly ever correspond via 'snail-mail' anymore but the demand for package deliveries from online shopping is up exponentially.

Better yet, make that "you've got mail/packages" notification via eMail or text message.

Seems to work fine to me.

My neighborhood has always been front door delivery. My main carrier is extremely friendly and is there every day. Every now and then there is a substitute guy with no problems.

We need to keep and support the Post Office.

Damn, I’m old!

I was going to take the OP to task for the line about the USPS being no good “this century” and then I remembered that it’s not the 1900s any longer........

The Post Office works just fine for me and my law office.

Haven't noticed any real changes. Mail still shows up, sent mail reaches it destination.

Maybe the postmen and postwomen who work at the front are OK.
But the managers who organise the system must be lazy and/or incapable and over-paid idiots.

I drop a letter in the mailbox and don't even think about it.again. They must get where they are going.on time because everyone is getting paid.

Packages I always use USPS both sending and receiving. They are cheaper.and I have Never had one lost.

That letters take more than a month to be delivered - and sometimes are not delivered at all.
And that cannot only be Corona's fault.

Are you still located in Germany?

What are your specific complaints? Details please!
