The NFL Protesters

Well we don't know for sure that Jesus said anything. All we have is the written word of what somebody else said...a man named Jesus said.

I am talking about people who take the Bible as the word of God. I am not going to travel down the rabbit hole you refer to.

I'm not sure either was wrong or right. And I'm not picking on Obama. Been going on a long time. Jefferson, when asked for a clarification, rendered an opinion on separation of church and state. Clearly an opinion. He was president at the time.

T. Jefferson worked for years and was quite proud of getting the Va. constitution amended to separate church and state. For him, that necessity was more than just opinion. He also insisted on the first amend. in the BoR.

There are still laws on the books in a few states that require political candidates to declare a belief in god.

Ok fair enough. I just prefer to write...we are told by hearsay that Jesus said.....?

Compare Obama who thoughtfully considered both sides of the protest to Trump threw a Molotov cocktail into the issue.

Intellectually, Trump is like a caveman compared to Obama. You hear a thoughtful intelligent considerate answer compared to Trump's "get that son of a ---- out of here."

One sign of being a snowflake is having unhealthy obsessions.

One thing about a con is that they only believe in those parts of our constitution that they believe in. Only part of the 1st Amendment that they believe in is the part they think gives them the right to discriminate and call it religious freedom. Free speech only applies to them having their say and using racist comments, you know PC if you say it isn't right. And of course the 2nd Amendment, and not the emoluments clause that Trump constantly violates. And the right to protest as one sees fit to do so without hurting anyone else is beyond their ability to understand, especially when it come to a person of color and the killing of such people of color.

Analysis:true. It is not a a matter for the President to get inolved in any way.
and why the NFL decided to re-awaken this dead issue is beyond me.
OH....I dont know...maybe this had something to do with it...

Emails and discussions between NFL personnel people have written that Kap could be and may be should be...a starter. What did Kurt Cousins do ?

He won nothing compared to Kap and got $84 million...guaranteed...guaranteed !! The blacklisting of Kap is rather obvious.
You comparing Cousins to Kaepernick pretty much destroyed any credibility you might ever have had on this issue.

As long as you have no problem with athletes who take politically unpopular positions being blackballed. Tomorrow maybe a conservative athlete can find himself in the same position.

What's wrong with employing athletes based on their athletic abilities? We're going down a dark road when teams blackball people with unpopular political beliefs because they're bad for business.

In the 40's and 50's many professional teams didn't hire Black athletes because of the "all mighty dollar." Someone took a huge risk with Jackie Robinson.

Consider something Jackie Robinson said:

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/jackie-robinson-anthem/

How is Jackie Robinson different from Colin Kaepernick?

How is Jackie Robinson different from Colin Kaepernick?

that is like comparing MLK to BLM

there is NO comparison....it isnt in the same time zone

one risked his life, and that of his family to further his race, for the love of a game. to have a chance to play with white men, and to break the color barrier in a game that before then was as segregated as it could get

the other sat on his ass as the national anthem played....

Jackie Robinson "I cannot stand and sing the anthem. I cannot salute the flag; I know that I am a black man in a white world." That's a lot stronger that Kaepernick's language.

Have you ever been to a heavily policed minority neighborhood? I had a girlfriend who lived in Bronx NY. When I met her she told me how much she hated the cops. I didn't get it. But after a while of being harassed by cops when I picked her up and seeing how it looked more like an occupation than neighborhood police, I quickly understood the problem. You don't understand the problem. The worst thing is you make no attempt to understnad.

Kaepernick is a rich Black guy standing up for poor Black people being totally crapped on by law enforcement. I totally applaud his courage.

Oh, my best friend is cop. He's an Asian cop. You know what he tells me? He says, "Cops are really racist." I don't believe all cops are or even most. But it's more a combination of poor training and power going straight to their heads. They often behave like bullies. And it's in minority neighborhoods where this problem becomes most obvious.

not if an owner has said...NOT HIM

"i dont want him anywhere near my organization"

and there is NOTHING illegal about it

and no President or GM of an organization is going to fight the owner for someone like Kap...the talent level isnt there

Actually that's the whole point. According to those who assess talent, it is there and especially given the QB's with contracts.

If the owner says don't bring him in, then the owner does so because Kap is not allowed his 1st amend. rights and..,.have a job.

So we have it correct now? It's Ok for you to exercise your constitutional rights or have your job...not both if your employer says so.
The whole concept behind the BoR is that they are sacrosanct.

Let's face the next correction, your right to free speech should go, because after all, you...have nothing to say.

Trust me, I've been a Redskin fan since BS (before Sonny) and I know in no uncertain terms, that if Cousins is worth $84 mill. then Kap at the very least
deserves to be on somebody's roster.

First...Cousins was the leading free Agent in the market with NUMEROUS people competing for his service. THATS what earned him an $84 million contract from a team that was one win away from the Super Bowl last year. Second...NFL players...people that have palyed against him...have said Kaepernick is not worth the hassle. His skills do not outweigh his baggage. He isnt liklely to be a starter, CERTAINLY not an elite starter (he hasnt been an elite player since Harbaugh left the 49ers) and no team has deemed his skills worthy of the turmoil or paycheck of a backup. If Kaepernick has the skills to lead a team to the SuperBowl he would be playing somewhere. His last 12 games he was 1-11 on essentially the same team that saw Jimmy Garrapalo go undefeated on.

Not even a nice try. For all we know that's a preseason game or a route or both.

Oh and almost all if not all of those seats...were paid for.
Its the kickoff of the Bears Panthers game on 10/22/2017. Week 7.

NFL viewership is only off by 10%.

Are you Black? Your avatar is Bernie Mac? I can understand how Whites who have never been to a heavily policed black neighborhoods can have no idea how bad it is.

LOL. Kaepernick put up better stats on a worse team. That's a fact. If Kap is not a starter than why would the 49ers give Jimmy all that money when he didn't even outperform Kaepernick?

In 2016 Kaepernick had 16 TD and 4 INTS. If you know football you know that's pretty good on a bad team.

I'm a huge 49ers fan so I complained about Kaepernick's play often. But he's definitely a starter but more like a middle of the road starter not elite. But you're a total liar if you claim he wouldn't be starting if it were just about ability.

If he hadn't protested he would have gotten a contract like Jimmy easily. If you watch football and you've seen the money the've thrown at scrubs then you know it's true.

You have all your rights...But not while at work

There you have to follow their rules...don’t like it, don’t work there....go find other employment

No one is forcing these men to play football...it is a choice...they sign a contract...an EMPlOYMENT contract

If they want to play, they have to follow the rules of the employer....

Poor sad millionaires

Do it after your job is over...off the field

These players have access to reporters, newspapers, and journalists galore....use them....one of the perks of being an athlete

But don’t make your boss look bad, or cause his business to lose value...not good for your job prospects

My avatar is not Bernie Mac. My avatar changes regularly to heroes in the news. As for heavily policed black neighborhoods...its AWESOME that you pretend to give a **** about them. Now tell us all about life in general in black ne9ighborhoods and who is the cause of that. Tell us all about the last black life that 'mattered'...you know...the last black life that died at the hands of a cop...preferably and unarmed black man and a white cop.

Tell us all about how much you actually give a **** about black America.

:lamo Dood...Kaepernick couldnt even keep his starting job. And hey...its not ME saying it...its other black NFL players saying it. His skills dont make his baggage worth the risk. Its not 'just' the money. I'd be willing to say Kaepernick would be PROBABLY be a solid backup somewhere (but who knows...when was the last time he actually made an effort to play? For that matter how the **** do you even pretend to know what his skills may or may not look like today?). But no backup is worth the distraction. And everyone but the most ridiculous SJW is willing to admit the truth.

Why do you insist everyone worship a piece of cloth?

Funny how conservatives hate government... until that very government sends you to die in a foreign land.

Who do you insist on trying to put words into other people mouths

Put YOUR opinion up...not mine, and don’t try to throw all conservatives into some stupid little box as if we all think alike

We don’t...as progressives don’t, liberals, don’t, and democrats don’t....

I am 5th generation military...and I fought for your right to spit on the flag, or burn it

You just can’t do while at work....most bosses won’t stand for it....

Start your own business, burn flags....and see how many customers you keep

What did I get wrong? Does it piss you off or not when people don't stand up for the flag? If so, why? Do you realize that flag has different meanings to different people, including military veterans? Who said your view should be the universal view for everyone? The NFL can do what they like. That does not mean I will agree with how they handle this issue (poorly, like they do with domestic abuse cases).

They can, and they have....see, you understand after all

You don’t have to like it....you probably aren’t their target market anyway

They want the beer drinking money spending football fan, not the elitist....they don’t need or want you

And my view doesn’t matter...never has, never will

It is the owners view that matters...it is all that has ever mattered

They can, and they have....see, you understand after all

I don't know where you got the idea I don't understand. The issue I'm taking up is nationalistic idolatry.

You don’t have to like it....you probably aren’t their target market anyway

Hockey is more my taste (and yes, if the NHL handled the issue the way the NFL has, I'd be speaking out).

They want the beer drinking money spending football fan, not the elitist....they don’t need or want you

Well, football did have me, but all the pre-Kaepernick scandals completely turned me off and I gradually stopped watching.

But it is really telling about the NFL crowd when they fail to get angry about how Goodell handled the Rice issue but then lost their s*** over Kaepernick.

And my view doesn’t matter...never has, never will

Then why are you wasting your time on DP? ;)
