The increase in taxes that UHC would require would pretty much negate any advantages where economic growth is concerned. Unless they are talking about some really draconian rationing of medical care, which people are not going to stand for.
A dollar for dollar push huh? Citation?
So just deny stats you don't like? That's how it works? That's three denying the BLS. Where's Conservative when you need him. He says the BLS is infallible.
If we are talking about paying for the entire medical system, one sixth of the economy, with government money I think it's pretty obvious that big tax increases will be necessary. The federal government currently takes in 18% of the GDP in taxes. Let's say that through some miracle of never before seen efficiency in government the government manages to reduce the cost of medical care by one half. That's still going to be an additional 8% of the GDP that has to be brought in through tax revenues, an increase in the tax burden to 26% of the GDP, a level never before seen in peace time, 6% higher than the Federal government has ever taken before. And that's just the federal take, it doesn't include state and local. I expect that will have a negative effect on the economy. I think any reasonable person would agree.
Once this rightwing myth is debunked, like the Ministry of Truth they'll claim they never said it, and they'll move on to a new pseudo-issue. That's how the tea party noise machine works.
You mean like Obama promising you can keep your insurance, you can keep your Dr. and you will save $2,500 a year on your insurance bill. All lies.
Unless of course, getting a large portion of the currently 50M uninsured Americans insured, happens, which is the goal of ACA. In that case the outrageous price inflation in both health care insurance and health care should decrease, and in fact health care inflation is one of the foremost driving forces in reducing economic growth as it sucks up more and more of our economic output.
In contrast, doing nothing will insure our economy is hobbled by health care inflation for ever.
Still on first page and there are two people already denying the Bureau of Labor Statistics as a viable source for labor statistics.
Yes it's true Obamacare is speeding up inflation on both healthcare insurance and health care cost. People are losing their health care insurance because of Obamacare, insurance is now more costly and the cost of health care is rising at an all time high.
Clearly you don't own a business and you don't know anyone who DOES own a business or you wouldn't make such statements that, in reality, can't possibly be true. Any business owner with an ounce of sense(and concern for staying in business) realize the need to get under the 30 hour(a totally arbitrary number made up by Pelosi and Co.) or pay a penalty for any employee without health insurance. OF COURSE they will cut hours. OF COURSE they will try to reduce the number of full time employees. They would be crazy not to!
You can say "it's not true" till you're blue in the face. Either every business owner in the country just stopped caring about money or your stats are off.
"There are lies, damned lies and statistics." Mark Twain
I refer to BLS from time to time. As a rule, what I see in business carries more weight than BLS most times. Their info is always retro (late) and with many, as is the case with this report, a fluid benchmark is utilized. That skews the data/information. It is reasonable to expect a future adjustment in the report figures. Much is left to be seen.
If the math don't fit ya' must....

I kept mine. And we did have a very small increase this year. Smallest in a decade.
Good for you, but Obama said everyone would be able to keep their insurance and that is a flat out lie. He also said you will save $2,500 another flat out lie. And he said you can keep your Dr. yet another flat out lie.
I guess you have not heard where companies are dropping peoples health insurance by the hundreds of thousands, all because of Obamacare and you call this a good thing. You also call it a good thing that you can't keep your Dr. and that you have to pay more not less. As he promised.
Health care costs have already been increasing, even before Obamacare went into effect.
That is not what Obama said, he said health care cost would go down and he said you would save $2,500 a yr on your health insurance. All lies.
Why are you trying to make out Obama's lies not a lie. Their are hundreds of video of Obama saying these lies.
Still on first page and there are two people already denying the Bureau of Labor Statistics as a viable source for labor statistics.
How can you say that it IS suppressing job growth if the law doesn't go into effect until next year?
But those people are often wrong and inaccurate. So, why should we take this link seriously?
You mean like Obama promising you can keep your insurance, you can keep your Dr. and you will save $2,500 a year on your insurance bill. All lies.
Because the Obama administration is untrustworthy, because businesses react to enacted laws and to possible laws, because it IS happening.
I was wondering how long it would be before someone would post that Mark Twain quote.
The law has been slowly going into effect for the past two years. It has already been affecting people.
shrug...
I've seen people throughout the Obama spin statistics, play the innuendo game and even outright lie over the past 5 years, so I'm sure you'll understand that I would consider anything Obama's BLS says as being suspect.
And largely they have, that or better. And companies have been dropping long before ACA. So it makes no logical sense to accept the due to reform rubbish. And don't believe the exaggerations.
So, really very little has changed.
