Tyson is just repeating what he knows very well was Carl Sagan's most famous utterance.
"We are Star Stuff". (Google)
Perhaps 30 years ago.

Other videos containing the exact phrase surely exist, just couldn't find one at the moment. This will do.

RIP Carl Sagan, science hero. I share your wonder.

All the basics of life come from the initial bang, electrons, nuetrons, cheesburgers, etc. We will someday have the knowledge to recreate the big bang just like intelligent life created all life before. This is not BS. All physicists agree we will be mega intelligent hundreds of thousands of years from now and of course millions of years from now. We will possess power beyond our current imagination. We will indeed, become God.

Ah....so we are stardust.

I kinda' like that...

it explains glittery vampires

Sent from my YP-G1 using Tapatalk. My YP-G1 is a very nice device that hardly ever explodes or shoots jets of burning acid at my face. Samsung has done a good job in that respect in building it. However one has to consider hamsters in regard to android as cyborg hamsters are very cool. Imagine how fast an Android hamster could run in their exercise wheel for example.

When looking for the Video of Sagan in my initial reply, I noted one site that informed Joni Mitchell liked it too and picked up the Sagan idea in the song 'Woodstock'.

Chorus and Last Verse.
...
We are stardust
Billion year old carbon
We are golden...

The idea has been around or a while in the media... Hippies knew it.

" Well I came upon a child of God, he was walking along the road
And I asked him tell where are you going, this he told me:
(He) said, I'm going down to Yasgur's farm, going to join in a rock and roll band.
Got to get back to the land, and set my soul free.
We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Well, then can I roam beside you? I have come to lose the smog.
And I feel myself a cog in something turning.
And maybe it's the time of year, yes, said maybe it's the time of man.
And I don't know who I am but life is for learning.
We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

By the time we got to Woodstock, we were half a million strong,
And everywhere was song and celebration.
And I dreamed I saw the bomber jet planes riding shotgun in the sky,
Turning into butterflies above our nation.

We are stardust, we are golden, we are caught in the devil's bargain,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.go "

oldie, but a goodie :

someone autotuned Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking and made it into a song. pretty cool.

RIP, Carl Sagan.

You're body, life, liberty and persuit of happiness does not belong to you. It can be arbitrarily taken away cause, heck, you are not you.

If I'm not me, who is me? Who am I?

If I'm not me, who is me? Who am I?

Astounding, deeeeeeep, profound.

Wow, it's so groovy watching people rediscover what someone already discovered way over 3,000 years ago and then try to pass it off as original and profound.

Genesis 3:19

By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.

That scripture is only reaffirming what was said about the creation of man, stated earlier in Genesis. In no way does it describe the vast cycle of matter and energy taht actually encompases the universe.

"star stuff" within 25 secs (and a few more later), a quick primer on evolution, and that 'we have come full circle' reaching out to the stars from which we originate.
One realizes while watching him, Wisdom is putting knowledge into perspective.

I always thought the most astounding scientific fact was that the moles of an element= pressure x volume/ .08206 x temperature.

;)

;)

moles = (pressure x volume/ .08206) x temperature

or

moles = (pressure x volume)/ (.08206 x temperature)

?

doesn't matter. PEMDAS, multiplication and division are equal in the order of operations.

Well, it makes a difference because the /.08206 * temperature can equal 1/.8206 * temperature or it can equal 1/.8206 * 1/temperature, depending on the parenthesis. Remember, distributive property.
