The Latest: Trump criticizes Birx over virus remarks

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said White House coronavirus task force leader Dr. Deborah Birx hurt the Trump administration when she said widespread virus infections in urban and rural America mark a “new phase” for the pandemic.

It was a rare rebuke of Birx. Trump accused her of taking “the bait” by responding to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who told ABC’s “This Week” that she had lost confidence in Birx because Trump appointed her and the president has been spreading disinformation about the virus.

Trump, in a tweet Monday, described Birx’s response to Pelosi as “pathetic.”

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Birx said her comments are driven by data and that she would stake her 40-year career on using data to implement programs to save lives.

Trump, as always, dodging the blame & ridiculing the professionals who know lot more than he does. It's all politics. Trump doesn't want any of this to stick to him.

the top public health professional on the coronavirus task force.

Getting blasted from both sides is pretty tough. It's not easy to be the voice of truth in the United States right now.

Birx has been anything but. She's been downplaying the virus right along with Trump and has been pushing his agenda and disinformation on testing and other aspects all along. I think she's also been critical in moving number collections from under CDC.

The only trustworthy person around there is Fauci. Birx has been terrible and Trump is just unhappy about her stepping out of line for once.

This is the problem with being a Trump ally. There is no independent thought, no deviation, no opinions. You either think, speak and act in line with Trump 100% of the time or you are his enemy.

That is about the truth of the matter, trumps Enemies List gets longer and longer by the day.
 
Trump wants people to believe that the virus is under control, which it isn't. When Dr. Brix presented how it is actually spreading, Trump had a fit.

Since Birx & Fauci are the only ones who seem to know what's going on with this pandemic, I suggest one or both quit Trump & go to work for Biden, getting out the truth against Trump's made-up fairy tales about viruses vanishing & the situation improving.

It would be a blow to Trump that would assure he lost. And the American people need to know the truth. The only experts w know the truth work for Trump.

I know that and wasn't attacking him personally. It's just that I and a lot of other Americans want to see a completely new page come January.
