The last boats without crippling tariffs from China are arriving. The countdown to shortages and higher prices has begun (1 Viewer)

LOL, yeah, I bet the Europeans are real worried about how awful it's gonna be when their standards of living increase, their borrowing costs decrease, and their stocks jump in value.
Actually, they ARE worried and they are taking action.

They have been for some time, too.

And China will ship their stuff to those other countries and they will ship to the US under their name. Adding cost to the product without tariff revenue.
Hypothetically...you manufacture fishing rods in China. (Just picking a random object and happen to be looking at fishing rods)

Let's say they cost $10.

The Trump tariff on those $10 rods would give you a cost to the importer of $24.50 sending them directly to the US.

But if you send the $10 fishing rod to...let's say S. Korea...and add a cheap little plastic reel to them...and let's say increase them to $11?

Then ship them from S. Korea to the United States?

The Trump tariff included cost to the importer: $13.75

Hypothetically...word on the street is that there are some back door "tariff exemptions" being worked out by some folks with money....so that utilizing such type of work arounds where for the right type of contributions and investments, retailers can ensure wink wink nudge nudge..that these "loopholes" aren't looked at too closely. You know, depending on who utilizes them...

The disconnect is that the two may have spoken but Xi thought they were talking about Taiwan and Trump thought they were talking about tariffs.
So to buy into this theory, one would have to believe that BOTH of these guys are epic morons.
You know that, or they didn't ****ing talk.

That's what they USED to do, but with those other countries seeing a 10% tariff on EVERYTHING they export to the US...not just on the Chinese stuff they try to sneak in...they'll think twice about continuing that tactic.

Again, that won't work, as I explained above.

Furthermore, "the rest of the world" doesn't want China dumping product on them. They don't want THEIR domestic manufacturers destroyed like what happened to the US.
LOL.
You seem confused. Are you under the delusion that other countries pay the tariffs instead of the importer? The idiot in the White House has the same confusion.

Other countries have lower tariffs. Remember your dude is 'negotiating' with hundreds of them? Thats where China sends their stuff to get re-shipped. South Korea wont be getting product 'dumped on them', they will be getting product that they get paid to relabel "made in Korea" and then ship it to the US. They'll be happy to get paid to do that, and the US consumer will foot the bill. Yay?

China? Unless they take some drastic steps like subsidizing their manufacturers
wow, thats a real Rip Van Winkle comment.

The reason China has caught up and surpassed the US in manufacturing is because of the massive investments the CCP has made over the last 50 years. They have had real industrial policy, like Japan previously.

Yes he is. I had a long sincere dialog with him last year, i explained the entire process. He could not accept the facts.

What do you think the odds are that, by 2026, if Tariffs are sustained, @Mycroft is trying to blame them on Biden?

The President already blames current economic conditions on Biden if and only if conditions are bad.

Here are some of the tariff quotes from trump

tariffs will make us rich
tariffs are a tax on foreign countries
tariffs will not raise prices

which one(s) do you still believe?

I'm sorry MC, you're flailing and thrashing about in a thread about the effects of trump's tariffs trying to diminish and obfuscate those effects. It just seems you have an emotional need to downplay them so I'm assuming you believed trump's lies. And they were obvious lies when he said them over and over. I'm guessing even you realize they're lies so its not so much an irrelevant question but inconvenient to your flailing and thrashing about.

Don't care.

When I make a post and someone comes along with irrelevant questions, I reject them.

The tarrifs are alreaddy a huge biin for the UK arms business.
Many countries who used to be almost automatic US arms customers are choosing UK weapon systems and the UK itself it buying more home made stuff.

The UK has a strong track record on arms sales and this is just helping the UK sales teams.

Thanks Trump, keep it up!!!!!!!!!

Nope, what you do is refuse to enter into an acual debate, run away and claim victory.

It's the same every single time and why you have me on ignore as I will call you out for doing so.

American consumers will survive. American manufacturers will eventually pick up some of the slack and other countries who don't have 145% tariffs will, also.

China? Unless they take some drastic steps like subsidizing their manufacturers or devaluing their currency, a BIG chunk of their sales (and income) will dry up and blow away. Chinese manufacturers will disappear.

Or...the Chinese government can open negotiations with the Trump administration.
Sadly, some want us to fail. Can you imagine wanting your Country to fail? Some will continue to raise those Pom poms high in hopes of failure.

Yes.

So it goes with TDS.

Just like Biden blamed his economic conditions on Trump. It is what they do. Regardless of political affiliation. ;)

Trump has never taken responsibility for anything in his life only credit. When the economy and markets were on the upswing under Biden, Trump even tried to take credit for that now it’s ****ed up and he’s trying to blame Biden.IMG_4029.jpeg
