(The Independent) Measles cases have now spread to 30 states

of course you don't

but if the core problem is millions who came here illegally without vaccinations, and they're bringing in kids with no vaccines and they're getting measles and spreading ....

you can see the core problem - illegally here people

now it might also be just lazy American's who never had their kids vaccinated - I'd like to know which it is, real facts

There would seem to be no "but if" in the Texas outbreak. It appears to have been brought in by a Texan family that traveled internationally, became infected, then spread it to an unvaxxed religious community where it subsequently thrived.

As chronicled in my linked article in Post #85, above.

what if they're illegally here people ?

they come here unvaccinated which has sparked this entire measles outbreak

IF that's the case .... can you admit that's the core problem ?
No, the CORE PROBLEM is that some idiot parents have chosen not to get their kids vaccinated. Had they made a better choice it doesn't matter if you have 100 million infected aliens here because their kids will be immune. You cannot give measles to someone who is immune. You are not allowed to blame the outbreak on people here illegally. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the idiot antivax parents.

Buh Buh Buh the illegals........

This is our future. RFK jr has blood on his hands and he will kill more people. I tire of having to be the nice one when people in power are going to kill your friends and family. **** antivaxxers.

Dr. Drenzek believes the outbreak began with a family in Texas who traveled internationally, contracted the respiratory virus and spread it to a large religious community that does not believe in vaccinations.
Other families are choosing not to vaccinate because of what they are hearing and reading online.

Ok I read that, and "believes" isn't fact. It might be, it might not be

so we know that illegally here people do get measles from not being vaccinated, right ?

ummmmm if its the illegally here people unvaccinated and not getting their kids vaxxed? yes, its 100% their blame is it not ?

1024 cases and only three deaths? Why the panic?
what panic?

why the apathy?

Whatever version of influenza that is now going around has killed far more than that every year.

I hope this helps

Measles is more easily spread than the flu

Does this mean the measles are ten times as contagious as the flu?

- vs -
Does that mean the measles are 13,000 more likely to send someone to the hospital than the flu?

- vs -

Does that mean the measles are 100 times as deadly as the flu?

People coming in from other countries, legally or illegally, do not have the same level of access to childhood vaccines as children in this country do. You CANNOT depend on their parents to get those kids vaccinated. Now I do not like people entering the country illegally, but that is beside the point. If I KNOW that people ARE going to come here illegally, which they are, and I KNOW that some of those kids are not vaccinated, then it is MY responsibility to protect MY KIDS from possible exposure to whatever it is they are bringing here to the best of my ability. You are trying to foist that responsibility to get vaccinated upon people entering the country. YOUR kids are YOUR responsibility, no one elses.

Nope. Just wondering why all the librul panic. The common flu so far in 2025 has killed far more then measles.

If you received information regarding the differences between the measle and the flu, would it matter?

Why not just give it to high risk people instead of everyone?

Because anyone can get it, have only mild symptoms, and pass it onto the vulnerable that cannot be vaccinated and because no vaccine is 100% effective and some can still get sick. That's why high numbers in vaccinations create "herd immunity" to help effectively, practically, eliminate the disease from the population.

So it's very selfish and stupid to refuse doctor-recommended vaccinations. And yes, there are some stupid doctors out there so some patient responsibility is necessary. Like not believing politically-biased crap on the Internet.

Great if your kid gets infected. Not so great if your kid is one of the few unfortunate children who get complications from this fully preventable disease:

Measles, a highly contagious viral infection, can lead to serious complications, particularly in young children and immunocompromised individuals. These complications include:

Respiratory: Pneumonia (lung infection), Bronchitis, Laryngitis, and Croup.

Neurological:

  • Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain)
  • Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE, a rare but fatal brain disorder that develops years after measles infection)
  • Seizures
Other:

    • Ear infections
    • Diarrhea
    • Dehydration
    • Blindness
    • Hearing loss
    • Death (rarely, but possible in severe cases)
Increased Risk Factors:

Young age (under 5 years old), Malnutrition, Vitamin A deficiency, Weakened immune system, and Pregnancy (can lead to miscarriage or premature birth).

you don't want to know the core problem and are making excuses

I think you know the illegally here population is the cause of this outbreak don't you ?

The core problem is people not vaccinating. Whether or not it has anything to do with illegals is you avoiding the actual issue for an irrelevant side discussion.

Nope. Just wondering why all the librul panic. The common flu so far in 2025 has killed far more then measles.

I wouldn't describe it as "panic", though if the rate of infection had continued to increase exponentially - it might have gotten there! You never know? It still may.

The problem is two fold:

1] It's a highly contagious disease, that takes-off like wild-fire amongst the unvaccinated.

2] It has over a 13% hospitalization rate.

The big concern is:

"Has the recent years' trend of falling vax rates removed our herd immunity?"

Right now the answer seems to be we may not have full herd immunity, but we still have fair protection. However as seen in Texas and several other places like New Mexico & Oklahoma, we have large pockets of wholly inadequate immunity.

So yeah, this seems to be a wake-up call. Further deterioration of our relative herd immunity could have serious consequences.

But another important element of the concern here, is that we've had measles eliminated - but now it is back. And it is back, unnecessarily so. This is not just bothersome in itself, but of what it may portray for other childhood diseases we've eliminated by childhood vaccination.

In a perfect world people would not eat the crap they eat, they would not smoke cigarettes, they would not drink themselves to death.
In a perfect world there would be no one crossing the border illegally. Unfortunately, the world isn't perfect. So the best I can do is to make sure that me and MY family are protected in an imperfect world. It is MY personal responsibility to make sure my family is safe and not rely on others, as much as possible.
You want to fully eliminate illegals from entering here? Or are you ready to admit that is never going to be possible....or just keep making excuses wishing the world was perfect. As it turns out this particular outbreak had nothing to do with illegals as Chomsky pointed out. It started with some folks who traveled abroad (unvaccinated), got infected and returned to infect some morons in a religious community who then spread the disease among other antivax morons.
They got what they deserved.

Well, it's not really America if it's not a disease-ridden pest hole.

With all respect, what the WHO may or may not recommend is neither here nor there.

Our Sec'y of Health - in his official capacity - promoted the Vitamin A pharmaceuticals and was sending them to Texas, where kids subsequently ended-up in the hospital.

It got so bad, the Texas Department of Health had to tell Kennedy they were refusing pharmaceuticals from him, due to both the toxic reactions and the misinformation & misuse leading to Vitamin A use as a prophylactic - in lieu of a proper vaccination.

Here:

Continuing to post obvious lies and propaganda after you have been shown that the World Health Organization recommends Vitamin A for measles.

All children or adults with measles should receive two doses of vitamin A supplements, given 24 hours apart. This restores low vitamin A levels that occur even in well-nourished children. It can help prevent eye damage and blindness. Vitamin A supplements may also reduce the number of measles deaths.

At least this should show people you should be ignored when it comes to the measles when you start 10 more paranoid threads about it.

Look at that BS headline from The Atlantic. Unproven treatment? Give me a break

What the WHO or junior has said about Vitamin A as a treatment for measles doesn't really matter. The poster in question is simply diverting attention away from the critical matter of preventing measles.
Another person who should be ignored on this subject who says we should ignore the World Health Organization recommendeding Vitamin A for measles because it interferes with the brain dead RFK talking points.

Obviously, though not surprisingly, YOU don't see the "core problem". So I will tell you what it is: morons in this country choose not to vaccinate their kids. If they had done so it wouldn't matter how many "illegals" with measles enter because the unfortunate children of the idiots here would not get infected anyway. The measles vaccine is one of the most effective vaccines in existence.

I'd like to present what I believe is the big picture, if I may?

We've had Measles eliminated. Due to falling vax rates, it's back.

The big concern besides,

"Will Measles get worse?",

is

"What does this imply for other even more serious childhood diseases we've eliminated?".

Do the other eliminated childhood diseases make a come-back, too? Polio, et al?

Nope. Just wondering why all the librul panic. The common flu so far in 2025 has killed far more then measles.
Its because the media, which gets a big amount of advertising revenue from big pharma so they parrot their propaganda, is trying to discredit Trump and RFK. There were 16 outbreaks last year and the media barely even mentioned it.

Doesn't matter whether undocumented migrants or American citizens are among those who are infected. The point is, the disease is spreading within the United States.

Within the United States...where people can be and should be vaccinated and then not get sick from outsiders.

And many immigrants, legal and illegal are intelligently vaccinated.

Great if your kid gets infected. Not so great if your kid is one of the few unfortunate children who get complications from this fully preventable disease:

I am unable to tell what is great in my post you quoted.

it all seemed depressing af, imho
