Society's only hope is to stop with this fantasy that we can do it all by ourselves. The entire purpose of a society is for each of us to help the members of that society.

The stories are not equivalent. In the Daniel Penny case there was a question if Penny was protecting others or did he murder the guy. This question is the heart of the matter. Was it murder or not? That was an interesting question. That made it a story.
In this case a man murdered a woman clearly. There were no questions or doubts about the criminal act. It was not interesting. It was open and shut. Fox and other far-right media jumped on it just because the guy was a released convict. It then fit their propaganda of crime being rampant in the US and liberal judges. It fit their narrative, it fits your narrative. It is not of real interest to the general public who don't follow far-right narratives.

To the liberal media, the Penny case was a case of "white ex-military vigilante" murdering a man who was "having a crisis". The left follows this narrative. Many conservatives are very anti- "people getting stabbed in the neck on a subway", while the left's narrative is "That's just life in the big city, get used to it". Long story short....The left likes to sweep violent crime under the rug, especially when it's committed by minorities, but they will run "white-on-minority" crimes all day long, because they love to give minorities excuses for why they commit crime.

In that picture she's already bleeding out. She saw her killer and then she saw the other people on the train quietly glance at her, glance away, pick up their bags and leave.

On the recording that has audio, you can hear the killer speaking these words, very likely some of the last words she would ever hear.

“I got that white girl.”

Race issues in our country are complex and tragic. But all you seem to be able to do is make flippant one-dimensional bullshit claims that it all just runs one way.

I don't think it would be possible to answer that question. I think it very well could have.

If he was on the drugs, there are black blocks warnings for a lot of the more strong anticyconics, for example, that are pretty scary. And if he was lapsed from the drugs, that can certainly cause extremely erratic behavior. Someone who's been arrested 14 times probably needs full-time supervision, especially if they're going on and off drugs are not compliant.

So no, I don't think we could say that it would have stopped this. I think we could say it could have, but what really could have is some kind of permanent restraint.
