I had no trouble reading this CBS article which says he is in jail without bond.

The minor charge on which he was released on a "written promise to appear" was repeatedly calling 911 from the loony bin.

Our society made a choice -- a choice not to provide useful, decent care to someone with severe mental health issues, and instead to leave them homeless on the street - or rather, on the train - without support. But that is not some sign of Democrat leniency.

Now, you CAN argue that the courts should have locked him up for calling 911 from the loony bin. But for how long? Unless you're going to dump him in an oubliette for life for pressing a few buttons for help when he needed help, he would be "back out on the street" and you'd be saying "see, liberals caused this!"
