The Grassley/Graham (Senate Committee) Memo Obliterates Many of the Progressives' and NeverTrumpers' Key Wishcasting Defenses of the FISA Application

There were several defense offered by liberals/NeverTrumpers (BIRM) to the Nunes memo, the most important of which was:

Maybe the Steele Memo was only mentioned in passing, but there was a whole pile of other evidence that would support a gross invasion of someone's privacy.

This claim was always a Magical Thinking joke because if they had better evidence they would have offered it.
The fact that they went with the Steele memo is the best evidence that there is no better evidence. The Democrats have been leaking like sieves all along. Don't you think that if there were better evidence we'd already know about it? This nonsense has been going on for 18 months now.

It's wishful thinking taken to a psychotic level to imply that other people are conspiracy theorists and Jesus-Addled Magical Thinkers when you sit there postulating Super Strong Evidence We Just Don't Know About Because Adam Schiff Has Too Much Damn Integrity to Leak It.

I wonder when they will learn to pack it in and just give it up. This whole false narrative of collusion is getting old and the rest of the world is already looking at us strange because of how much crap went on after the election was finished.

Not to mention all these damn kids eating tide pods.

what is up with all of the brain dead chillins being raised in this nation?

So much for the next generation tearing down the wall, when they can't stop putting arrant crap in their mouth's.

More damaging than the Nunes memo would mean more damaging than a backfire.

There is more evidence of wrong doing by people in the fbi, the clintons, obama and the democrat party than there is by Trump here.

The media is all but giving a pass and playing coverage for these criminals and the alt-left true believers are not intellectually curious enough to see for themselves what is and what isn't.

Have you read either of them?

If you have, could you please explain how the facts brought forth in the respective documents are inconsequential and a "backfire", as you put it?

I've always wondered how many folks there are like me who have been ignoring this Russian thing from the get go. One reason is the Democrats set out to destroy Trump the day after the election, with that I knew there was no trusting them. With Trump, he's been full of it since he first announced his candidacy for the presidency. Saying one thing one day, something completely opposite the next and finally denying saying anything at all on the third. Whatever Trump says holds no water. Especially when most of the things he says or tweets needs someone to followup on those to tell us what he meant or didn't mean. Which usually is different than what he said or tweeted. It's like Trump is speaking Martian and we need an interpreter.

I just put this whole mess into the hyper partisan political propaganda category which both sides are participating in. I'll wait, sit and listen and when Mueller issues his final report, I'll go along with it. I don't trust anyone in Washington to ever tell us the truth, be honest with the American people, every single one of them has lost my trust and support. That goes for Trump, Republicans and democrats.

I've read the Nunes/WH memo. It says, in effect, the FISA court authorized a warrant approved at the highest levels of Justice and the FBI, based in part on information contained in a dossier, much of which has since proved to be accurate, none of which has since proved to be inaccurate. The subject of the warrant had known connections to Russian intelligence agents and is a self-identified adviser to the Kremlin known to have visited Russia and to have met with Russian officials during the election campaign. Yes, about as damaging as a backfire.

The Lefts latest strategy of trying to re-establish Steele's credibillity and the legitimacy of the dossier is a real winner...

Its nonsense of-course. If much of the dossier was proven to be accurate why did the FBI use a Yahoo article based on a leaked copy of the dossier to corroborate it ?

They corroberated the dossier with the dossier....Lol
Im guessing they used circular reporting because Bill Preistep admitted that the dossier was only minimally corroborated when they presented it to FISC.

You guys need to come up with better talking points, seriously. You've had nearly a week to rebut Nunez's memo and a couple of days to rebut Grassley's memo

Lots of it has been proven to be inaccurate. For instance...

The dossier claims that Trump's lawyer Micheal Cohen met with "Russian operatives" in Prague. He's was at his home at the time(verified) and has never been to Prague in his life(verified by his passport).

The claims about Carter page rely on information from Russian government sources, have never been verified, and are vehemently denied by Page.

The whole 'golden shower" thing is laughable on its face.

There is plenty of doubt built into the Steele dossier on many points but regarding the specific details of the Carter Page FISA warrant, it is clear that the Steele dossier relies exclusively on information given to Steele by Russian government sources. The FBI was well aware of this when they applied for the warrant.

The House Intel Committee is now requesting the transcripts of those FISA proceedings.

The OP used a , well weird source, but it's bringing up propoganda points that Grassley and Graham are doing to discredit the process. When you don't have facts or law on your side, you attack the process.

Pertaining to Prague, his passport shows he went to Italy so Cohen’s passport would not show any record of a visit to Prague if he entered the EU through Italy, traveled to the Czech Republic, and then returned to his point of EU entry.

Would you take Adam Schiff's word for it?

https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/schiff-trump-lawyer-cohen/2018/02/06/id/841853/

Rep. Adam Schiff admitted in a CNN interview Tuesday that parts of the disputed "dossier" were not true, including a key allegation made against President Trump’s lawyer.

Schiff told CNN interviewer Alisyn Camerota that President Donald Trump's personal attorney and long-time Trump Organization official Michael Cohen was never in Prague.

The dossier compiled by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele asserted that Cohen had travelled to Prague to covertly meet with Russian agents.

And, it does show he was overseas at that time. Oh my.. so while it isn't PROVEN, it isn't shown to be false either. I am sure that any competent lawyer will point that out.. His suing buzzfeed is a publicity stunt.

Newmax definately didn't say that He didn't go to prauge. did you even LOOK at the CNN clip? Newsmax gave a bad spin, and misrepresented what Schiff said. Do watch that 2 minute clip. He said that the Prague trip was not part of the Fisa application to begin with, and the Prague trip was not collaborated. Schiff did not say it wasn't true, either.

So, Newsmax out and out lied.

Lol ! The memo's are filled with facts !

If the Nunez memo was just a bunch of manufactured partisan allegations, why did the Democrats vote to keep it hidden ?

The fact the FBI used a Yahoo article to corroborate the dossier hasn't't even been challenged by the Democrats

Admittedly, I did not watch the clip. However, Cohen's "Prague visit" was widely reported on.

The dossier alleged that Cohen went to Prague in late August 2016 or possibly early September to meet Russian officials. Cohen has pushed back on these still-unsubstantiated claims, saying that he was in California at the time. Earlier this year, he told The Atlantic he was in California from August 23 to 29, visiting the University of Southern California with his son.
Officials at USC confirmed to The Atlantic that Cohen was on campus during that timeframe. However, Cohen's own geotagged tweets place him in New Jersey, on August 24 -- even though Cohen said his trip started on August 23. (Cohen later suggested he was in New Jersey to catch his flight to Los Angeles, tweeting, "you are aware that there is an airport in Newark?")

He wasn't in Prague. The Dossier is lying.

Is it?? It's full of allegations, and twisting. But do, continue. It's a lie that the FBI used a yahoo article. IN fact, the Grassley Grahame memo denies that Nunes claim about that. From Grassley releases declassified version of Steele DOJ criminal referral - Business Insider

But the Grassley-Graham letter indicates that the FBI did not, in fact, include the article in its application as a way to corroborate the Steele dossier's findings.

Quoting the FBI's FISA application, the letter said: "Given that the information contained in the September 23rd news article generally matches the information about Page that [Steele] discovered doing his/her research, [redacted]. The FBI does not believe that [Steele] directly provided this information to the press."

In other words, it appears the FBI told the FISC that Steele's information had reached Yahoo News through a source other than Steele himself, and that the article was repeating findings that had come from the same original source. The statement therefore seems to indicate that the FBI did not believe the article was an independent corroboration of Steele's intelligence.

I don't know if he went to Prague or not. I made no statement otherwise. My only point is his passport doesn't disprove it.

This does...

Prove it. While it does not say it was confirmed, neither has information been presented that show it is incorrect. As was pointed out, Cohen DID enter Italy around that time, and it is quite feasible to get to Prague without a record from Italy. So, while it isn't shown to be true, it isn't shown to be false either.
