What is this about COVID-19? The common flu has killed lots more people. But you never hear about it. Why?

We have vaccines and protocols and treatments in place for the flu. CoVid-19 is new. It isn't fully understood yet, we don't know how much danger we're really in, and that scares people.

I am going to go out on a limb to say it is because people at elevated risk to die from the flu get vaccinated so they don't get it. This is not hard stuff, I do not understand why you and so many others are confused by it.
