Anybody watching this? I just finished episode 1 and its intriguing. I like the hard science part since its more realistic like the long term effects of micro-gravity on human beings and thrust maneuvering in space. But there are a few weaknesses like stealth space ships (you can't make a ship stealthy in space if it uses rocket thrusters) though its minor.

It's funny, years and years ago... I was desperate for more sci-fi.

Now...I am starting to get a little sick of it.

I still love good sci-fi. But there are so many lousy examples, I am now jaded. One - imo - mediocre Star Wars movie after another, Star Trek movies that are more 'entertaining' than intriguing and WAAY too much zombie bull****.

Hollywood has turned sci-fi from thought-provoking to dumbed down entertainment for the masses.

Sad.

This looks fine - maybe even good. But it does not excite me nearly as much as it would have 15 years ago.

But maybe this will be great - I know not.

Lots of good scifi books are not made to movies. Sadly.

I read the books. It's a pretty decent series, I like it a lot. Books are better, lol.

You might like this one. The plot has got the familiar tropes of sci-fi, but its more political and less of a space opera that Star Wars or Star Trek is- yes, I categorize Trek as space opera since their technologies are so fantastic its almost as magical as the Force. The Expanse treats spaceships as they ought to be designed- as skyscrapers which can be accessed by going up and down instead of Trek ships that are built like sea-going vessels that have corridors along the sides.

It's good.

If you haven't read the books, though, you might have some trouble following some of the plot elements. It gets a bit complex.

Powered through the whole first season earlier this year. A bit of a "slow-burner," but it's certainly not a lot of potential.

Personally, I'm partial to the Martians. Nasty corrupt Earthers are basically just an extension of everything bad about modern Liberal society. lol

We're having a hard time not binging this. Two days and we're four episodes in already.
