The Election That Broke the Republican Party

i think Trump is exactly who the Republican Party wants to be and it will come back MUCH, MUCH lower.

The GOP got more black and Hispanic votes than ever before.
They won back House seats.
And it look like they will keep control of the Senate for at least two more years.
And now they won't have to bend over backwards to defend Trump.
And with control of the Senate they will be able to fend off major bills that can slow down our growing economy.
How bad off are they, you say?

And minorities still voted 75% against Trump(LOL)

Holy shit Patriot!(LOL)

That's ridiculous. On the part of Trump.

Trump wasn't elected with any kind of a mandate, neither was Biden.
Its a landslide, your cult leader said so...Reuben

Sure, if you believe everything Trump says. Do you?

You do and that is what counts here. By your own measure Biden has won in a massive historic landslide victory. In fact it was really the most important event since the birth of Christ because it rid this nation of the worst President in history. Nothing else compares with that achievement. Mr. One and done is FIRED.

Maybe you can point out where I have said anything of the sort. If you can, congrats to Biden for his massive landslide victory. If not, then you have been reduced to lying about someone that you do not know. Have fun uniting anything with that unethical behavior.

This now all hinges on whether the accusations of fraud turn out to be true or false.

If the accusations are false, Trump looks ridiculous, and the GOP distances themselves from him.

If the accusations turn out to be true, we've got Bidengate on our hands. Most likely, after Biden takes office.

This will be an exciting time, no doubt.

In any case, the headline of this article is extremely misleading. The GOP prevented a blue wave. There is no mandate for socialism, Biden wins by 3% of the popular vote, and a tiny fraction of a percent in many swing states, and populism is just getting underway in this country. With or without Trump.
You are right about no blue wave. But there is no mandate for socialism, as either Marx or Lenin understood it, in either party. But both parties are committed to socialistic programs that were advocated by old Socialist Party leaders like Norman Thomas. In effect we have socialism, but dare not speak its name, except as an epithet by the right, which accepts socialism without calling it socialism. Got it?

I would venture that everyone on this forum who yells THE SOCIALISTS ARE COMING! THE SOCIALISTS ARE COMING! cheerfully accepts socialist-like benefits, as do I. But " SOCIALIST!" on, folks. You haven't had this much fun since Joe McCarthy was around. But "COMMUNISM!" is so passe.

"The most important event since the birth of Christ"? Really? I think the Brooklyn Dodgers finally winning the World Series in 1955 edges this out.

As to the GOP and Trump, I remember visiting Venice a few years ago. In one large hall, there were portraits of the Doges of Venice. One was covered with a dark screen which block his visage, so hated was his memory. I believe that is how the GOP will treat Trump's memory, especially if criminal charges follow him once he leaves office. It may take them a while to live down things like their not even drawing up a platform, instead pledging their loyalty to whatever Trump wanted. That was eerily reminiscent of the oath of personel loyalty Germans gave to Der Furher.

The bigger problem the GOP has is that their conservative values, if left unchecked, would try to dismantle everything done since Rosevelt. And by that I mean Teddy in certain ways, not Franklin. Trumps trashing of the left's annoying political correctness slipped over into sanctioning bigotry, and to the extent the GOP retains his arguments about low cost housing gonna get your suburban housewife momma, they will lose ground eventually. Meanwhile, the democrats need to remind people of things like how the GOP tax cuts were temporary for people, permanent for corporations. If they do so, they will no doubt be accused of "class warfare," so I doubt they will go there as strongly as they should.

Without the maii in fiasco, we would have won.

No, without mail-ins the election would have been called for Biden that very night because his voters would have had to go in person.

Even with the Electoral writing on the wall, the bulk of the GOP is defending Trump's attacks on our elections and our Republic.

I strongly suspect they will continue to do the bidding of Donald Trump over the next four years.
"Broke the Republican Party"? Not a single state legislature flpped? No governors overturned. a retuced dem major in the house, a good chance of GOP holding Senate. You have a funny definition of broken. Even the dems are calling it a dumpster fire.

Hillary was so upset it took her HOURS to give a concession speech.

Nobody gives a flip about that old bat.

Now, who is taking bets on how long it will take for Trump to give his concession speech (if he EVER gives it)? I'm betting he never does.

I predicted just the opposite, Rogue--I was saying that the GOP would be trying to separate themselves from everything they did during the last four years. But based on what I've heard on the news networks--and your post--I now think I'm wrong about that.
Exactly, if they were REALLY the Trump party, they would say, we hardly knew the covfefeboy. That is how Trump would play it.

Lol I guess that's why our Framers designed the system to allow the leading candidate to take office, regardless of accusations of fraud.

If either party was involved in fraud, we will know in the next year or so.

Lindsey Graham is investigating Trump's claims, but the margins are significant enough that I don't think any of this could be cleared up in two months. Unless recounts reveal the fraud, which would indicate that the people committing the fraud were stupid.

I am sure in 2023 you will be saying the evidence of fraud will come in any day now.

Bla bla bla. 26% of minorities voted for Trump. The deciding states were razor close. We will keep the Senate, and we took seats in the house.
Day of Reckoning? Na.
Without the maii in fiasco, we would have won.
You mean without the votes that were made easier by mail in voting. Why is it you people just don't believe in everyone's right to vote? It wasn't really a fiasco. Most have said that aside from taking a few extra days, everything went off without a hitch. It was actually only 3.5 days after the election that a new president elect was named. And republicans really made it as hard as they could get away with in democratic areas to vote.

We did it anyway.

hard to say because everyone hates Trump

The Republican party needs to do some deep, painful introspection. The reactionaries have reduced the party to the shell of its former self. It's time to get back to their strong roots. But only their base can choose to get them there.
The Dem's have to step back and take a look at what they are doing
I am sure they could have and I think they should have had a better candidate for President.
There are a lot better people then Biden
This is what happens when a party allows the people at the top pick their candidate and NOT the people, just like 4 years ago.
a LOT of Dems, were NOT behind Clinton and didn't want her to run but the people at the top of the party chose her so that is what we got.
Have a nice evening

Also, the GOP will be fine, they kept the Senate, gained in the House, and added 3 Justices to the Supreme Court. Trump lost, but it was not a blue wave.

Trump is a symptom, not the disease. The GOP has been dog-whistling since the 60s:

a lot of this started months ago when Trump started saying mail in voting is full of fraud , He didn't have any proof that it was or that there was any large amount of fraud anywhere and that there ever was any.
with Trump putting the idea that mail in voting is full of fraud he implanted that idea in his followers head and now they believe it
even if they can't prove that there was any.
I am sure there was some but not anything like what they are talking about
and if you look back over elections in the past you will find out there was hardly any at all
Have a nice evning

Perhaps the minorities are getting smarter and they understand what a Populist president can do for them.
Maybe minorities are beginning to understand they aren't victims and they aren't beholden to the Democratic Party. What have the Democrats done for them anyway?

Who cares if he gives a concession speech? Will you hate him any more if he simply chooses to ride off into the sunset and sticks his middle finger up your nose?
What does he owe you anyway?

Medicare, Medicaid, labor protections like overtime, the ACA, civil and voting rights. The list goes on.

Comparing Trump's defeat to the birth of Christ!
Apparently you think very little about the birth of Christ?
The world will soon forget about Trump's defeat.
Apparently, you have been so obsessed with Trump's presidency that you are unable to look at his defeat logically. He will be gone soon and the world will move on.

The Democrats pulled a late night scheme... in multiple cities... that shatters trust in the election.

Any which way you cut it... this will not be forgotten.

The stain of illegitimacy is all over your corrupt party.

:ROFLMAO:
It's always funny when Democrats give Republicans advice.

I hope Republicans continue their trajectory and never listen to Democrats. And I hope Democrats will learn to never cross the aisle to work with Republicans. Rather, let Republicanism die out if they don't meet Dems on their terms.
