It is my opinion that no matter who the GOP puts up (here's a hint it wont' be Trump, he's a chump), they cannot win this cycle. For all the excitement over the 1st debate and millions watching, the reality is Trump has decimated the GOP's chance. No matter what happens, he's going to stay in the race. When the GOP finally sheds him officially, because the man is no conservative and really not a good over all candidate with some very bad ideas, he'll run third party. Ross Perot showed us what happens when a charismatic, rich lunatic with a big mouth can do to a general election. Granted Bush Sr wasn't a good president or politician, but Perot killed the GOP in 1992, and Trump will leech enough that a wounded Hillary, a looney Sanders or a maniac OMalley could stroll right in.

It's over folks, I'm thinking I'm done caring about 2016, it's going to be a mob circus thanks to the ego and idiocy of Trump, the morons that vote for personality, the media the thrives on it and a political system broke because too many Americans haven't the civic duty integrity to vote out career politicians of BOTH parties.

Thanks for saving us a whole bunch of time. I guess the networks can go back to looking for lost airplanes and raging on police violence. Thank you very much.

Don't be so negative...

The GOP is dead, but that has absolutely nothing to do with Trump. Trump being a 'frontrunner' is symptomatic of the party's decline and lack of identity, but certainly not its root cause.

None of the GOP hopefuls are conservatives; they're all shapeshifting, Janus-faced politicians, funded by and subservient to the same people and interests as their Democrat "adversaries".

I think this is a bit premature ...

This is one thing I hope I am actually wrong about, but I don't think so. Trump's an idiot, and he's going to be a destructive force all the way to Nov 2016.

Trump and Hillary have been planning this for years.

The real reason she deleted her email server.

The problem is not Trump, there will always be candidates who walk on the wacky side. The problem is the party boss reaction to Trump. It's everything the party faithful have come to hate about the party power elites.

What exact reaction from Priebus on Teh Donald do you find objectionable?

Way too early to worry about any of that Renae.

Too early in the process to predict anything, at all, about the Presidential race for either party, or especially as a whole.

Well, that is the worst case for the GOP, sure. And I would not be willing to bet money against you on this.

But there is still a possibility that Rubio or Kasich may have the same kind of success that BHO had 8 years ago. They are running on the same message that he is -- a new vision for new times.

Will Trump run as an independent and split the vote like Ross Perot did, giving the election to Clinton both times? That's hard to say. Trump The Chump loves to hear himself speak and see himself on tv.

Hillary is a strong candidate in her own right. I don't think Trump will matter much.

Jeb needs coaching badly. He fell flat on his face -- no enthusiasm at all during the first debate. It is almost as if he really does NOT want the job that much.

Trump won't last. I wouldn't worry about him.

If you ask me, 2017 will see the inauguration of Jeb Bush.

Trump may cause other Republicans to up their game and speak more frankly, I mean, it's obvious that's what people want. And it's not like Hillary has a ton of charisma. Also, I believe many Democrats would vote for Trump if he runs as an Independent.

Well you right wingers loved to pick on Nancy Pelosi there for a while -- talking about political wacko's.

But now look what stinks in your own back yard -- The D !!

I have noticed that Superbowl predictions are just as unreliable as those about presidential races.

Personally I never dreamed that BHO would defeat McCain.

I never thought Clinton had a chance against GHW either.

I suspect you are correct, that the Trump appeal is for idiots in both parties.

Is that supposed to be something to cheer me up? N.A.B.

Why would I want to do that?

Seriously, I think Jeb gets the nod and wins the general.

Well I've been saying it for a VERY long time. When the smoke clears the GOP will have a very very hard time.

Now that's not saying they have too just how its going to go if they keep on the path they have been on for a while.

Our elections have become too big of a production. They have become circuses that we need to fix. And we love it, we are part of the problem lol we love the show! BUT when it comes to actually voting the majority of us tend to settle down.

The GOP will have to change, they dont have to drop, but they have to change the "stereotypical" stances on many social issues. Now of course millions of those on the right arent against many of those things but thats what the media and many people focus on and thats what the stereotype is. So They have to break it some, they can NOT focus on those tings and make them major running points, they cant make abortion, and being against gay rights or other things that are poorly worded making them divisive. Focus on REAL conservatism(fiscal, military) and make it have better wording on actual facts.

I dont think they will do it for 2016 though and no matter the show they are going to come up short IMO

That's quite depressing anyone would think that man could be president.
