CNN reports, "The Democratic Party’s favorability rating among Americans stands at a record low, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, fueled in part by dimming views from its own frustrated supporters."

The Republican Party controls the White House, Senate, House, and with six conservative justices the Supreme Court that has already been partial to Trump.

Someone explain to me what the Democratic Party can do to reign in Trump and the Republican Party.

Would these naysayers prefer the Democrats had shut the government down? That would do a lot of good. If that had happened, guess who would have been blamed if the government was forced to shut its doors.

CNN continued, "Democrats and Democratic-aligned independents say, 57% to 42%, that Democrats should mainly work to stop the Republican agenda,"

I have heard that many times, but no one has bothered to say what steps the Democrats could take.

Trump is out of control. He is usurping the powers held by the Republican controlled Congress.

I will asked again. What procedures can be used by the Democrats to stop Trump?

Isn't it more logical to blame the Republican Party for Trump's policies?

It seems fairly likely that Biden and by extension his administration, Harris and any like-minded Democratic leaders will go down in history alongside the likes of Neville Chamberlain; maybe not particularly bad in and of themselves, just woefully ineffective to the point of enabling the serious threat presented to them.

That seems like a legitimate reason for disappointment, even for folk who don't have an answer on how to get the toothpaste back in the tube.

First, the election was unfortunate and the results were primarily due to Biden's refusal to resign much earlier. Second, the Democratic party now has no leader/spokesperson. Even Jeffries and Schumer don't agree. Say what you will about Trump (and there is lots to say), but he brought everyone in the Republican party in line. They acquiesced to his policies re: deportation and they continue to remain mum about his affect on the economy.

The Democrats need to agree on what their message will be going forward, and IMO it shouldn't include all the "woke" talking points. They also need to talk to the voters in a way they understand rather than using stilted language. They clearly missed the mark in explaining how well the economy was actually doing under Biden so now we have the Trump economy.

Last, I see the Republicans are out doing town halls. Perhaps the Democrats should do the same. There are Democratic senators and they also have constituencies that they need to keep. Perhaps this is happening but I haven't seen anything about it. I don't think the focus needs to be on Trump but perhaps what they will do in the future. I think Trump will be his own undoing.

The Dems need to stop nominating candidates who don't have penises. That was the deal breaker in 2016 and 2024.

Trump has never won a presidential election when the other candidate was a man.
Sadly true. In this day and age. Pathetic, but true.

Maybe start by realizing that you are on the wrong side of 80% of the issues. But keep doubling down on telling voters that yiu are smarter than they are. That will work in 2026.

LOL. You have missed the whole point in your diatribe. This is like that ridiculously stoopid fight meme of 3 left wing politicians doing a crazy "fight" scene dressed as superheroes. It was beyond cringe worthy. What they and YOU fail to say is "WTF are you fighting"? Reducing government waste and fraud that Obama and Biden promised to do in 2011 and didn't? The illegal immigration crisis being over? Trump deporting hardened heinous illegal immigrants?

WHAT?

While the Republican Party, and Trump in particular should and do get primary culpability for Trump's policies as can be seen in his declining approval ratings across the board and on individual issues, Democrats are accountable for doing what they can to resist them and build up their prospects for the mid-term, and they frankly haven't been doing that for the most part, which fully explains why their approval has been plummeting at the same time.

For example, perhaps they shouldn't roll over on the horrible Republicans budget like Schumer just did for starters without even bothering to negotiate down some of its worst elements, especially when most people were prepared to blame Trump and the Republicans in some combination over the Democrats nearly 2 to 1 for a govt shutdown; organizing protests, legal challenges and helping voters both become aware of understand the true adverse impacts of Trump's legislation and DOGE's actions (which are deeply unpopular despite the general concept of 'improving govt efficiency' being broadly embraced) and directing them as to how they can best mitigate them at the local and state level is another thing they could be doing rather than largely playing dead.

they are anti-gun, anti-US citizen, anti-border control, anti-baby's lives, they're radical LGBTQ fanatics that push their agenda on everyone, they hate women's sports, they really hate Trump and anyone who voted for him ...

and average working American citizens are sick of all of it

Just double down on the transgender and identity politics. Seem to be working well enough.
Yeah- it’s almost as hopeless as trying to get women to vote and be able to hold a job in Afghanistan.

But that’s highly conservative and moral religious societies for ya.

And if they don't, Americans will continue to elect racist grifting conmen with criminal convictions? That was the choice.

Isn't it more logical to fix blame on the Americans who voted for a Republican President, House, and Senate?

Particularly this Republican President!
There is a reason they voted that way and it has been 50+ years in the making. We are still feeling the effects of the Powell Memo. And that's not going to change any time soon. The Powell Memo told them to do this. It works. Greedy big money funds public opinion-shaping organizations that essentially campaign 24-7-365. It has worked. They main thing they want voters to believe is that the government is screwed up and has 'grown too large.' This is perfect, of course, for big greedy money because the less government there is to regulate them, the more wealth they can extract from the 99%. Most of the voting public has no idea they are being coerced to support big greedy money. They just listen to and respect right wing bloviators who repeat the messaging coming out of the big greedy money funded right wing think tanks and presto. It's so easy for big greedy money to manipulate the voters they have to be laughing about it.

I wish the main stream media would spend more time explaining this to the public. Why just let it go on and do nothing about it? They are the ones who could let the public know they are being used.

Two words.

Chuck Schumer.

Yes, it would have been better to shut the government down. There are no longer any restraints on Trump. And we can thank Chuck Schumer's spineless ass for that.

Guess since Donald Trump won both the electoral vote and the popular vote, that should tell you something about how Americans feel about the Democrat party.

Trump has never won a presidential election when the other candidate was a man.

Yep, fear of a female leader and the conservative ecosystem frightening old whites with boogeyman trans stories is all there was to it.

As we can see now, inflation didn't matter to Trump supporters after all.

They were simply easy to frighten, same as in every other presidential campaign cycle in U.S. history.

It is right wingers who constantly shriek about transgender people.

The DNC would literally have never mentioned them if right wingers didn't start their bigoted crusade.

That's because the predecessor both times was a Democrat, and Americans, who have the memory of a goldfish, forgot how good things were under a Democrat.

The glass ceiling won't be broken, until it is.

Now that Trump supporters could not possibly blame Democrats, "leftists," liberals, "commies," or "Stalinists" for anything anymore, what are they planning to do with the extra 15 hours of every day that has suddenly been freed up?

They'll always see themselves as victims--it's clear now that no amount of easy living will erase that ultimate entitlement--so now that Republicans control the entire government, who is the slave master remaining to flagellate their imaginations?

And I just came from a MAGA=Nazi thread, only to find a MAGA=Taliban post!

The short answer is that Trump has a vision and the Democrats don't.

Add to that the demolition of the Democrat's playbook--character assassinations, malicious prosecution, and media bias. They threw it all at Trump who not only survived but thrived. Now Democrats are viewed as more deceitful and less reliable than Trump--an epitath if there ever was one.

The DNC would literally have never mentioned them if right wingers didn't start their bigoted crusade.

They flooded Fox News with trans stories while octogenarian viewers in La-Z-Boys filled their diapers.

The conservative vision of America's future is frightening old white people with tales of a gender-fluid apocalypse.

Game over.

It was a non-topic for Democrats. Turns out that branding by the opposition didn't need to be reality-based.

Republicans might as well run with the same fevered trans stories on every election going forward.
