The Death of Entry Level

Now I'm earning about $42k a year in pay and benefits.
Their internal hiring process for people, who finish school, is excellent too.
Not gonna lie though, I hate my current position there.

I won't claim to enjoy going the work either. I do wish I had pursued an education in something I would have enjoyed more.

Master's degree.
And you cant find work in the Social Work field? Are you licensed? I'm sure every area is different...but..wow.

Have you look at the social work jobs that are listed under USAJOBS.gov? If you are fully licensed you should satisfy any experience criteria.

I would get licensed if I could, but unfortunately I can't get an entry level job that would allow me to get the supervision to get licensed. It takes between 8,000 to 15,000 dollars to get licensed and it requires a minimum of 2,000 hours of supervision depending on the state. In other words, it takes two years of post grad experience in order to get licensed as a social worker.

I've applied for positions at social service agencies that only require a high school diploma and I can't get an interview. I've done everything I can do. I've had my resume looked over by professionals. I've tailored it to every position and put in over 50 applications. I've only managed to get one interview for a position that may not even exist.

And yes, I have looked at USAjobs. I was very tempted to apply for a Correctional Officer position for federal prisons that opened up, but otherwise not much in the way of social work positions in my state.

I considered working for the G department of corrections and what I learned is that most people, don't want that job.
The turn over rate is high.

Obviously I don't know the ins and outs of your state requirements or your state employment situation. Did your university department have a list of intern sites? You had to do an internship for your masters right? I wish you luck with it. We place interns at a lot of the substance abuse treatment centers, hospitals, etc. Maybe you can hook in with someone with a private practice to get your hours. Considering the direction that health care is going having an LCSW should open a fair number of doors.
