Kirk's murder was a sad day for free speech, but we already have a Martin Luther King day. Martyrs should not be assholes who used their freedom to denigrate others. There are plenty of people who have died for worthy causes.

Take it for what it is. A tragic crime, an unjust punishment, another example of America's spiraling problem with gun violence. But Charlie Kirk never achieved anything in life. His death does not rehabilitate him.

Who are you to decide what is acceptable behavior in the wake of a murder? When a polarizing figure is killed, mixed reactions are inevitable.

In the wake of this assassination, I've seen so many people on both the left and the right try to cast the blame onto their political opponents. But I think that misses the point entirely. We have to hold people responsible for their own individual choices.

He was a conservative activist. He advocated for conservative causes. Obviously not everyone is going to like that. You don't need to be told what to think to reach that conclusion.
