Why should his murder be a unifying event? People are murdered every day in this country.
If we can't get behind changing the law when a room full of preschoolers is gunned down, we certainly should be worked up that a guy who antagonized people for a living was shot by someone he antagonized.
His murder was a tragedy. It was also an occupational hazard.
And surprisingly they're not all wankers.
Kirk's murder was a sad day for free speech, but we already have a Martin Luther King day. Martyrs should not be assholes who used their freedom to denigrate others. There are plenty of people who have died for worthy causes.
