The Bush Administration and this war

Iriemon said:
I'm not aware that Kerry voted against the war, do you have a cite for your contention?

I also disagree with your contention that Kerry voted for the war. I don't believe the question of going to war in Iraq was put to a vote before the senate.

Keep up Iriemon it was a shot againt sthe biggest flip flopper in history in that he voter for the 87 billion before he voted against it.........

He voted to give the president authority to invade Iraq as did most dems.......

Now he is doing his usual flip flop and saying it was a mistake.......

And if they come up with a plan, how will it be implmented?

We will never know becasue the fact remains they have no plan except to obstruct and criticize everything the administration does.......

And the republicans didn't do this when Clinton was in office?

I think the republican congress along with the Contract with America forcing Clinton to sign bills like Welfare reform and a balanced budget worked pretty well.......Much to "Slick Willies" consternation.......

"forcing him to sign" hahaha

Slick Willie was so effective because he knew how and when to compromise. A word not even in the current president's vocabulary.

Well sure, but that was right after Bush told everyone how Hussein personally trained the Iraqi terrorists on how to take over the 9-11 flights.

Back at ya! :)

This stupidity is one of the reasons that I didn't join the Democrat party. They are critical of everyone else's faults but refuse to even acknowledge theirs!

So I guess my getting an intelligent answer in this thread from a republican is never going to happen. What a disappointment (but I might be overestimating the intelligence of the republicans on this message board. Might? I am.)

Wow, a sweeping generality of all republicans on this message board. I guess you can take THAT generality and apply it to ALL republicans then, correct? And if so, why does 40% of the population make your blood boil so?

What do republicans have to do to get in your good graces again?

And what happens if a republican wins the White House in '08? Do you automatically dislike them based on their party affiliation or do you give them the benefit of the doubt and base your opinions on his job performance?

Ow, now that really hurt -- a masterful dissection of my argument! Hat's off to you sir.

I apologize that the subtely of my attempted humor was above you, Mr. Clover. Recognizing you are new here, I will more specifically spell it our for you. My post was in response to Ivan's post, which was a humorous restatement of an erroneous point we had just debated. I responded to his witty post with my own statement of an erroneous point from an issue just debated on another thread.

You completely missed my point and took my post as an assertion of fact, which was not its intent. I admit the humor was subtle, which is why I put the little smiley face on it ":)" so those slow on the uptake could understand I was jesting. But even than signal was apparently not blatant enough for some.

Again, I apologize for confusing you.

Please read through this thread and tell me if you think that any of the republicans/conservatives provided an intelligent response to my thread.

Were you referring to republicans on this thread? Or on this entire message board/forum? If it was the former, then I apologize for engaging you in this way and will move on... If it's the latter, then, your generalization is pretty harsh...

I know some republicans on this board can be frustrating to engage in a debate, hell, they frustrate me just by reading them.... I definately know they frustrate you, I like reading your posts... But, not all of them are that way... There are more than a few democrat/liberal demagogues on this site, also... you can't deny that in good conscience...

You know, reagan, I did sort of mean elsewhere on the message board, and it certainly wasn't directed at you. I was asking TurtleDude legal questions and, rather than answer my questions, he asks where I went to law school. I tell him it's none of his business, and he proceeds to belittle me because he suspects I did not go to as good a law school as he did (i.e., he is smarter than I am). ProudAmerican--you just need to read through his posts on this thread to see what kind of responses I get in other threads. aquapub is always right and cares only to bash those of us on the left. If I attempt to have an intelligent discussion with Stinger, he goes into minutiae, and doesn't even read what I write, but continues to attack my position. Harshaw is similar to TurtleDude--demeans me whenever he can. oldreliable used to be a decent person, but then insulted me when I based a statement I made on something that Dana Priest from the Washington Post said. It was something to the effective of, "You call yourself a lawyer?" That was the start of his attacking my intelligence. It's extremely disheartening. The list goes on and on. When I get attacked enough by someone, I put them on my "ignore" list because I don't come here to be insulted.

So what you saw above was incredible frustration on my part. I used to love coming here and learning how the other side thought. Not anymore.

I appreciate the response and can certainly understand your frustration... sometimes I will read a thread that I want to comment on after it's been started and by the time I get ready to comment on, it's been hijacked by the same old same old demagoguery(sp?)... you know the type... Bush sucks, it's Clinton's fault, Democrats are wimps, Republicans are war mongers... by then, the gist of the thread is gone and I lose interest...

Fact of the matter is, I enjoy coming here for all points of view and I actually do learn things from this site. There are a few members on here I seek out and read their views because I learn things from them that I can't get elsewhere... Gunny, Kelzie, etc... I've even learned a lot of things from you, Aps, and I'd hate to have you fall into the pure hatred and demagoguery(sp? take 2) that I see from the likes of Navy Pride and Kid Rocks, just for examples...

I certainly don't want to come off as patronizing and I apologize if I'm doing so... but you're way too damn intelligent and have way too much to offer to fall into those traps... I know I elide right over those posters who don't have anything to offer except for conjecture, hatred and blind partisonship...

Plus, I think there is a small crush on my part.... ;) ;) ;)

Thank you. You have no idea how much your words mean to me. I really appreciate it.

So the "plus" thing, are you flirting with me? *bats eyelashes*

We're both married, so it could be our little secret... how 'bout that? ;)

You're welcome for the words... stay positive and don't let all the negativity affect you... there's way too much negativity in politics nowadays...

There have been plenty of times that I've actually typed up a comment that is a blast to someone else and after re-reading before I hit submit, I decide it's not worth the energy to follow up on it and just let it go... Life is WAY too damn short to hold on to negative energy... I let way too many years go by in my life being angry and resentful...
