the breakfast thread

We went to Missouri for a quick trip once and I, being from the Northeast, discovered that the last stop for decent coffee was Ohio. West of that "coffee" was brown dishwater. We weren't staying at any Marriots, either. On the way back home I insisted we get off the interstate in Ohio and have a real cup of coffee. Boy, did it taste good!

I fully understand your experience. I cannot recall having in bad coffee in Ohio. I can't recall having any excellent coffee in Missouri. But, in Utah, yikes!

I'm not throwing rocks at Mormons. It's just that they don't (officially) drink coffee and in fairness you would't expect coffee to be a source of Mormon pride.

I also had brunch today: a corned beef and sharp cheddar sandwich with mayo and mustard, bread and butter pickles, a Moxie. I'm about to have the last wedge of cantalope with vanilla ice cream. That'll hold me til dinner.

Wow! Vanilla ice cream cream with cantalope? I have never heard of nor considered it but it sounds pretty good. It sounds as if it would taste like a Dream Cycle. I've got to try that.

It's very good! I hope you do try it.

This afternoon I made my first batch of hot sauce using just jalapeño peppers. For my taste it was spicy enough but nowhere near the end of the Scoville scale. It’ll be on my breakfast eggs 😋.
Tonight’s meal du jour was October fest brats, buttered noodles, and buttered corn on the cob with lemon pepper, iced tea and lemon.

Could you elaborate?

How?
I make a batch of eggs in my muffin toaster and then freeze them. It basically poaches them. In the morning, I toast an English muffin, microwave the frozen egg, and add cheese and hot sauce. The McHelix is basically a home made McMuffin minus the Canadian bacon.

Coffee is generally quarter or half caff, either drip or instant, depending. I usually take it with creamer and Splenda.

Had to Google. I presume you mean some type of countertop consumer grade version of this:

and then freeze them.
I'm not sure how we're cooking eggs in it though. That's cool you can freeze egg, never really thought to, although I have had hot pocket style breakfast sandwiches with egg.

But not with the egg cooking muffin toaster? I'm still not sure on that process.

Didn't know Canadian bacon was a McMuffin option. For me it's always been bacon or sausage round. Hot sauce makes everything good.

Tolerable. Lacking caffeine and blackness but I drank it with sugar and sugar creamer (double double) for years so I can't judge.

7/10 breakfast.

Also feels odd judging, I had the last of last night's pot of black coffee and 2.5 pizza pops. The other half of the pizza pop was stolen by a nibbler.

It was fairly cheap, but I got about ten years out of the last one. This is #2. I always poach the egg completely. I've taken too much micro to enjoy a runny, partially cooked egg. Basically, you put 2 tbsp of water in the tray, add the egg to the little pan after you spray it, close it up, and hit the button.
