The Belief That Trump Is a Messiah Is Rampant and*Dangerous

The Belief That Trump Is a Messiah Is Rampant and Dangerous | Psychology Today

A significant portion of his supporters literally believe the president was an answer to their prayers. He is regarded as something of a messiah, sent by God to protect a Christian nation.

Cue the disciples in 3....2....1

Seriously. Where is the incisive, resolute, omniscient Donald Trump who ran The Apprentice? Trumpy and those in his cult have no peer when it comes to conflating fantasy with reality.

There's issue with placing too much implicit trust in any politician. That being said, the length that the Trumpeteers go is quite astonishing.

I blame people like Michele Bachmann...

No, just simple comparison, avoiding to be hypocritical.

If you want to play the Obama card, feel free to start a new thread. Your whataboutism earns you disrespect. :)

Do you reeeally want to get into a stupid-people video war?

May be if we have a serious discussion. Or do you want to deny that Obama duped people?
Carry on.

Pompeo says God may have sent Trump to save Israel from Iran
"As a Christian, I certainly believe that's possible," said Mr Pompeo, a former member of Congress for Kansas and CIA director.

"I am confident that the Lord is at work here," he added.

I wonder if he really believes in his imaginary friend, or if it's just a con? Hard to know with Trump appointees.

I've never really thought of the GOP as a cult, until now. So I just did a little research asking what do cults have in common. Read a few articles and found this, ten warning signs you might be part of a cult.

I'm curious to hear all the denials from the supporters of the president that they don't fit the profile.

Some groups may not fit the definition of a cult, but may pose potential risks for participants. Here are 10 warning signs of a potentially unsafe group or leader.

• Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.

• No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.

• No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget or expenses, such as an independently audited financial statement.

• Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.

• There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.

• Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances.

• There are records, books, news articles, or broadcast reports that document the abuses of the group/leader.

• Followers feel they can never be "good enough".

• The group/leader is always right.

• The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing "truth" or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.

Any of this sound even remotely familiar to republicans who support this president?

Indeed it does.

America's first 3rd world state. Guess?

Trump Devotion Sickness is indeed a terrible thing.

Maybe not the best source, but those with Trump Devotion Sickness checks most of the boxes:

1. Opposing critical thinking

2. Isolating members and penalizing them for leaving

3. Emphasizing special doctrines outside scripture

4. Seeking inappropriate loyalty to their leaders

5. Dishonoring the family unit

6. Crossing Biblical boundaries of behavior (versus sexual purity and personal ownership)

7. Separation from the Church

Definitely 1,2,3, 4, 6, 7. A good argument could be made that they check #5 as well.

Comparison is fair game.

Your whataboutism is a clear sign that you do not want to address the OP and instead would like to deflect. :)

I thought you conservatives were all about personal responsibility, Lovebug! Why are you unable to take personal responsibility here? Are you afraid of holding your president accountable? ;)

Of course he did. But your what-aboutism is kind of weak, don't you think?
