Abraham, Isaac and Jacob frequently mentioned together was the first trinity mentioned in the Bible. One can view it as preparation for accepting the idea of Trinity as being thought of as one……hence no revealing of one or any name…..unfortunately many Jews missed this clue……
 
Ah, I feel like I may have missed the subtext of this entire thread. I had noticed that JW came up as a topic and obviously that group has a different opinion when it comes to God's name. Or places more importance on a particular one. And I'm assuming @Daisy is a Jehovah's Witness? I am not for what it's worth, I suppose you could call me just a vanilla... Well, I resist labels to be honest.

I am a random, disorganized, existential Christian with a bit of a mystical lean.

I won't wade too deeply into this part of the conversation about sects...

Interesting though it may be.

You question the deity of GOD's unique SON. CHRIST name is above ALL other names! Can anyone but GOD forgive sin and SAVE the lost? There is but one most obvious reason that the Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas and don't wish anyone else to. That reason most obvious is that to celebrate CHRISTMAS is to WORSHIP CHRIST. There is no way around that!!!!!! And the Witnesses are entirely against the worship of him who they reduce to only a created being. Their only ploy left was to eliminate it all together to end the seeming contradiction.

James Talarico does sound okay, but even Satan has posed as an angel of light. On the one hand James Talarico has aligned himself with the political party that allowed the mention of JESUS and Bible quotes to be regarded as inappropriate in our nation's school system. At the other extreme, this very same party embraces Bible/Christian virtue to promote their clear agenda of "inclusion" of all sorts when it suits their goal. Anyway, this individual misquotes what JESUS actually said ---- at the very least he took it out of context (if verse 37 doesn't portray worship and placing GOD first ----- I don't know what does:

Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

James Talarico asks what would JESUS do? I can tell you what JESUS didn't do. He didn't expect the government to feed the poor nor heal the sick ----- HE did it HIMSELF! That said, I personally feel that ALL the issues facing the United States today are clearly the result of a country that has turned it's back on the FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT except when it suits some agenda, and then afterwards those same bleeding hearts shove GOD back in the closet and lock the door. Personally, I feel that I could have a reasonable conversation with Mr. Talarico. There maybe some hope yet for the Democratic Party, but not if it continues to use GOD and not listen to HIM.

In February 2009, Barbara Brown Taylor led the second annual Piedmont College religion conference in Athens, Georgia. Taylor had been the keynote speaker at the conference in previous years. In addition, Taylor gave the 2009 Annual Buechner Lecture at the Buechner Institute at King University. She has written twelve books on faith and spirituality. In February 2010, days before Piedmont College's religion conference, Taylor ranked in the top ten most influential living preachers in a poll conducted by the Southern Baptist Convention.

Career​

In the early 2000s, she chose to leave active ministry, while retaining her ordination. Her memoir of this time Leaving Church: A Memoir of Faith was the first of a trilogy of books about redefining her faith followed by An Altar in the World: A Geography of Faith and Learning to Walk in the Dark.

Really surprised to see your admiration for this woman. First of all a woman ? And then spirituality instead of literalism ? World religions…really ? Exposing students to something different ? Sounds so open-minded…..so in conflict with fundamentalists…..Trump would have a few choice words for her…..

I'm not really admiring her. What I'm doing is pointing out what is known of her publicly. Christians generally, have no problem with OPEN interaction and discussion even in a classroom environment. It teaches a student how to process information and weigh the pros and cons. Basically, the child learns how to think and use their mind. When students only hear one-side of any topic they are in fact being taught propaganda and not how to think for themselves. I feel the fact that she was a "minister" indicates that she is likely a liberal. Women should not be ministers but as supportive of a male minister. The male is the head of the house. And a married woman cannot be subordinate to helping her husband and also be the leader of a church. It's not the best way nor now GOD intended. Women generally are very good a comforting, nurturing, organizing, being demonstrative and supportive. They are not as talented at being blunt, taking on an adversary and just saying no. One cannot be a pushover and a leader. It's more involved than that, but I feel that women ministers in the CHURCH are most likely a reason we are facing transgender and homosexual ministers, and church leaders. They need the SAVIOR and not to be in a place of moral authority.

Or it could be Jesus wasn't born on December 25th. It's not some "deity" which saves us, it's the blood of God's Son. Was Jesus' blood different than ours in some way?

JESUS was likely not born on December 25th. However, it is that time of year that the days begin to get longer and light starts to dominate. And so it represents a change that came and began to influence the entire world. Even the worse parts of the world have been influenced in some way. We no longer live like the Romans. Generally unwanted children are not simply thrown into the streets nor sacrificed to some man-made god. The sick are generally cared for and education has become very important for everyone. Evil does raise his horrible head now and again, but light still wins over darkness. There will be a time when the CHURCH will be removed from off the earth and the Anti-Christ will reign for 7 years. During that time things will get very bad because the influence of GOD will be mostly gone for that time... Those left behind will most definitely see a major difference. It not so much that HIS blood was different, though HE now possessed some human DNA through Mary HIS mother. It is that HE is PERFECT in ALL HIS ways and fulfill the requirement GOD's LAW. And who had the ability to do that, but GOD in the flesh.

Which is why it was such a strong influence on pagan religions of the day. These Sun worshippers then came into the fold and over time it became blended with Christianity.

The Jehovah Witnesses have been among those in error in that regard. They predicted 1878, 1881, 1914, 1918, 1925, and 1975 ------ ALL proved to be FALSE.
