The American Academy of Pediatrics calls for end to nonmedical vaccine exemptions for school attendance

This is the same group that is right now cheering 15% raises in consumer prices every time Trump lies about a deal. Economics ain't their thing.
Reality doesn't appear to be their thing either. They seem rather detached from it or create their own.

How authoritarian of you about a product that we don't know the true safety risk of due to it not having long term safety testing.
The normal vaccines required by public schools for kids have a long and proven safety history.
And these should be required of ALL kids, no non-medical exemptions, entering the public school system.

Vaccine Safety: Examine the Evidence

I'm not worried - I'm just pointing out to you that VAERS isn't proof of anything.
It isn't, there's a bit of a check on being able to get money from it, but it's not exhaustive. The purpose of VAERS isn't to protect vaccine makers, it's actually to serve the people. It is meant to speed up receipt of compensation in cases alleging injury. If someone has to sue Big Pharma, they're going to spend a shit ton of time and money doing it through a process that won't guarantee compensation in the cases where there is actual injury. And as these cases would be far more rigorous, people would actually have to demonstrate injury. So VAERS simplifies the system, lets people claim compensation and get compensation, with less rigorous demonstration of cause and without as much investment of time and money as they would have to invest to actually go after a large pharmaceutical company.

That's the ironic thing with VAERS and rabid anti-vaxxers. They claim that VAERS protects "Big Pharma", but it's actual goal is to help people who are claiming injury from vaccines.

People who seek redress for vaccine injury don’t have to use the vaccine court. They can still file a suit against the manufacturer.

But it will cost them more money, the standard of proof is higher and they will likely get less money.

Vaccine Safety: Examine the Evidence

Zero of the vaccines on the childhood schedule have had long term placebo controlled safety studies despite that being required for medications and it being the gold standard.

Vaccines do not cause autism. That myth and paranoia has been debunked. Only the wilfully ignorant still believe that.
You can't say for sure that they do or they don't. It never been studied.

In a revised policy statement published today, the AAP said that it continues to support medical exemptions from immunization when granted appropriately and believes such exemptions should be available to children. But it's concerned that the growth in nonmedical vaccine exemptions, and the variation in how different states implement nonmedical exemption policies, is leading to disparities in immunization coverage and schools that are less safe.

The statement, which updates a 2016 policy that was reaffirmed in 2022, comes amid rising rates of vaccine exemptions in the United States and the worst year for measles the country has seen since the disease was declared eliminated in 2000. Of the 1,319 confirmed US measles cases so far this year, 92% have been in individuals (primarily children) who are unvaccinated or have unknown vaccination status.

AAP argues that nonmedical vaccine exemptions "erode the safety of school environments" and limit the public health value of vaccine requirements for school attendance.

"Because medically recognized contraindications for specific individuals from specific vaccines exist, there continues to be a place for legitimate medical exemptions to immunization," the team of five AAP-affiliated physicians wrote. "However, exempting children for nonmedical reasons from immunizations is problematic for medical, public health, and ethical reasons and creates unnecessary risk to both individuals and communities."

American Academy of Pediatrics wants forced vaccination. That’s not surprising considering they are a literal big pharma funded mouthpiece.

They are trying to ban all religious or philosophical objection rights

They are an evil organization.

This is the right thing to do. Only fools think that vaccinations are dangerous.

Okay. In real life, which of them have shown themselves to be dangerous?

Childhood vaccines did get placebo studies.

And yet after more than 50 years of use of the standard school vaccines any instances of severe reactions are almost non-existent.
ALL vaccines, all medications of any kind, can have adverse reactions in a very small percentage of people.
And the vast majority of these reactions are minor.
Some people even have a mild reaction to something as simple as aspirin.
To not require vaccinations of kids entering public school imposes a far greater risk to a far greater population of the diseases.
If you do not want your child vaccinated send them to a private school that does not require it but even then those kids are going to be out in public and possibly infecting other people needlessly.

🤣

Yes, we can. Yes, it has.

You are welcome to believe lies, but you cannot force others to do so, or to "respect" your obviously false and dangerous delusions.

According to the CDC, a single measles .(MMR) vaccine costs $2.25. The cost for medical care for a measles can can be hundreds or tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the severity of infection and related medical intervention, loss of productivity, and missing school. To put it into context, according to the NIH, the 2019 Clark County outbreak cost $814 per contact. The total public health response and loss of productivity to deal with all those affected cost $3.4 million. Vaccines that cost less than a cup of coffee could have saved millions of dollars and the misery of infection.

Thanks.

@NOLA Dude so Big Pharma's evil plot to richen themselves is based on making $2.25 versus hundreds or thousands of dollars. Huh, imagine that.

Oh but there has been.

MMR vaccine and autism

Autism occurrence by MMR vaccine status among U.S. children with older siblings with and without autism (JAMA, 2015)

  • This study examined whether the MMR vaccine increases the risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children, particularly those who have older siblings with ASD and are at higher genetic risk.
  • Analyzing data from over 95,000 children, researchers found no increased risk of ASD associated with the MMR vaccine at any age, regardless of whether the child had an older sibling with ASD.
Measles, mumps, rubella vaccination and autism: A nationwide cohort study (Annals of Internal Medicine, 2019)
  • Analyzing data from over 650,000 children in Denmark, this large-scale study found no link between MMR vaccines and autism.
  • The risk of autism was not higher in vaccinated children compared to unvaccinated children, even among those with a sibling history of autism or other risk factors.
A population-based study of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination and autism (The New England Journal of Medicine, 2002)
  • In a cohort of over 537,000 children born in Denmark between 1991 and 1998, researchers found no link between MMR vaccination and autism.
  • The risk of autism in vaccinated children was the same as in unvaccinated children.
  • Furthermore, there was no association between autism and age at the time of vaccination, time since vaccination or date of vaccination.
Autism and measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine: no epidemiological evidence for a causal association (The Lancet, 1999)
  • This study investigated whether the introduction of the MMR vaccine in the U.K. in 1988 was associated with an increase in autism diagnoses or a change in the timing of symptom onset.
  • Analyzing data from nearly 500 children with autism, researchers found no sudden increase in autism cases after the introduction of the MMR vaccine.
  • There was no difference in age at diagnosis between vaccinated and unvaccinated children, and no increase of autism onset in the months or years following vaccination.
MMR-vaccine and regression in autism spectrum disorders: Negative results presented from Japan (Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, 2006)

  • This study examined whether the MMR vaccine was linked to autistic regression in Japan, where the vaccine was only used between 1989 and 1993.
  • Among 904 children with autism, researchers found no difference in regression rates between those who received MMR and those who did not.
  • Additionally, the overall incidence of autistic regression remained stable before, during and after MMR vaccine use in Japan.

You should ask the moms of the vaccine injured kids.
Do you have any clue about what public health means?

If you were really concerned about kids you'd be doing something about guns. You're not.

I'm fine with "religious exemptions" from vaccine requirements, under these conditions:

1. All parents, on the birth of a child whom they refuse to vaccinate, must put down a $50,000 Public Health Bond, to be used for health expenses for that child, or anyone who it can be conclusively shown was infected by that child.

2. All unvaccinated children must wear a sign in public stating the following:

Please stay back at least 10 feet. I am a walking biohazard because my parents believe a man in the sky told them not to vaccinate me from easily preventable, but deadly diseases, which I now have the potential to spread to others.

3. All unvaccinated children, upon their 14th birthday, will have the choice of whether they want to emancipated from their parents. If they choose to be emancipated, they will be provided vaccinations free of charge, and any remaining balance of the Public Health Bond will be returned to the emancipated child.

Are you agreeing with my statement or disagreeing?
Disagreeing.

True Medical exemptions should be the only ones considered when it comes to vaccinations.

Religious and moral exemptions are bullshit when it comes specifically to vaccinations because they’re nonsense.

Blood products and certain procedures that only hurt oneself are one thing when it comes to refusing treatment.

But I have no room when it comes to actively using nonsense to spread communicable diseases.

It should be a case of “show me in your holy book where you get to be a vector for a preventable disease”.

If they can articulate that… sure… but they can’t past “I don’t wanna”.
