I don’t quite buy these surveys. It's anecdotal, but pretty much everyone I’ve known for a long time is about as happy or unhappy as they’ve always been, regardless of virtually every variable except health
 
I'm a NYer, so I've got my own issues with Jersey and Jerseyites, but by and large they're a pretty happy bunch. Got a lot of pride in their state, too.
Aren't they the garden state. How can you be unhappy about that?
