The problem isn't even the procedural process, its the bureaucracy and public sector union both of which grow and maintain their power the more federal employees are kept on the payroll.

I do have issue with some who use a few rotten employees to bad mouth all employees.

when I was still working I know of one employee who was terminated due to porn on a government computer. the case was turned over to the local DA and the person was found guilty in a trial and sent to jail (child porn).

Federal employees are dismissed or disciplined when breaking the rules/laws.

I have no issue with getting federal workers who job is an office job back in the office. There are many federal jobs that the employees carry out that are field going jobs.

Nobody is doing this.

I can't speak for all federal employees but the IRS has been an absolute cluster**** since everyone started working remote. A couple of months ago I had an agent I was discussing a certain issue with tell me, literally, "I don't know but if the computer says it's right then it's right". A couple of weeks ago that issue was cleared up by another agent that had actually done a tax return before. These people have no supervision, nobody to turn to and ask a question and no consequences for their lack of knowledge. All of that, ALL of it, is due to being allowed to work from home instead of in an office where people can keep an eye on them.

That is not what I was thinking. I was thinking Trump does not understand the process when it comes to complying with NEPA. Current, NEPA requirement passed by Congress has timelines established in law. Timeline on publishing the project in the Federal Register, time for public to respond, time to reconcile public comment, etc. Depending on the area of the proposed project there are environmental clearances that have to be conducted.

- One can make a project approval a top priority. That is, it goes to the top of the workload for clearances, permits, etc. That means those meeting the investment amount would put lower investment projects down the workload list.

- If DOGE is going to reduce the federal workforce by 75% what is not known is how that would impact the ability to comply with NEPA requirements for a new project.

I suggest you take your own advice and learn to understand what current federal and State/local laws are pertaining to project approval.
This is not a left / right issue. It is more about the current law and if Congress needs to make changes to the laws.

Said it before, even an expedited project could take years before approval is secured.

Well I think Trump is pretty well versed in dealing with the Government and knows how inefficient they are and has GOOD Ideas how to reduce the Red Tape !

I do see that Government is very inefficient and think Trump et al. can make things better for everyone!

What "red tape" do you speak of?
Is it zoning, planning and building code regulations / laws passed by the local/State elected officials
Is it Federal laws such as NEPA past by Congress that a project must comply with
Is it federal laws that Congress past dealing with oil/gas permits or land use permits on federal lands.

I do see that Government is very inefficient and think Trump et al. can make things better for everyone!
At least Trump and Co. are trying to make things better !

The inefficiency that exists is caused by what Congress does or does not do.
Congress writes the laws which Agencies must adhere to
