Way to go party of Christ. So very Christian of you. I hope the deaths of those too poor to be insured follow you to your hell.

Alphonse is one of nearly 5 million uninsured Americans caught in a cruel gap that renders some Americans "too poor for Obamacare."

Obamacare was supposed to make health coverage affordable, or even free, for low-income Americans. The law's official name is the Affordable Care Act. However, the Supreme Court tossed a huge obstacle in the path of that goal in 2012, ruling that the states could opt out of one of Obamacare's crucial provisions: The expansion of Medicaid coverage to anyone making less than 133 percent of the federal poverty level, or about $15,300 a year for a single person. Since the court's ruling, 24 states, including Florida, chose not to expand the program.

...When the Supreme Court ruled that states could opt out of the Medicaid expansion, Florida, Texas and nearly the entire South turned away billions in federal dollars offered for broadening the program, citing budgetary concerns and resistance to Obamacare itself. The federal government will pay the full cost of the Medicaid expansion through 2016, after which its share will be no less than 90 percent.

has nothing to do with the GOP. The SCOTUS ruled that it was unconstitutional for the federal government to demand states expand medicaid.
the person above will qualify for an exchange plan and a subsidy.

it is the ACA passed by democrats that have shot premium prices through the roof. the average premium increase this year due to compliance with obamacare regulation has been about 40%. some people have seen higher increases but the average is about 40%.

obama said that my premium would go down 2,500 dollars a month instead my insurance plan through my company increased 40%. i lose about 1000 dollar out of my pay check this year due to obamacare.

PS tell the millions of people that have lost and will lose their affordable insurance to more expensive less coverage they will get due to obamacare.

It's GOp governors and state legislatures who are refusing to insure their people. Hopefully the people are smart enough to know it and throw the bums out.

Well this is just nuttier than a pecan pie. Obamanomics has prolonged the recession and created hundreds of thousands of new members to the poverty rolls. In addition:

Remember this: A promise from the government, especially in Washington, is only as good as the next election. Are we prepared to bank on a Washington promise today of billions of dollars when we know, from experience, that money won’t be there tomorrow?

It gets worse.

Obamacare promises to reimburse 90 percent of our Medicaid expansion costs. This means the state would kick in one dollar and get nine back — but only for the new Medicaid expansion population. Remember who these new enrollees are: single, able-bodied, working-age adults with no kids. For the individuals who Medicaid originally was meant to protect — children, seniors and the disabled — the state spends one dollar and gets back just three from Washington.

This creates a perverse incentive during tough budget times to “protect” the high-match able-bodied adults with no kids at the expense of the elderly, children and the disabled — the people who need our help most. That’s wrong.

This situation is too complex to be addressed in snippets and sound bites. I'd suggest digging a little deeper prior to making foolish statements.

shut up! Liberal rhetoric is all about the feels! You can't bring in the facts! Feels > facts.

Just another absurd effort, on the part of a liberal to try to blame conservatives for the destructive failure of liberal policies.

This has turned into a ridiculous cliché that now defines modern American liberalism—put forth very bad policies, that anyone with a vestige of common sense would see are doomed to failure, and then blame the opposition for this failure.

Nothing new to see here. Move along.

"CHOICE" is a liberals nightmare. I believe the SCOTUS gave the states a "Choice" to opt out.

Unless it's the “choice” to kill an innocent child. Liberals are as much in favor of that as they are opposed to any genuine, meaningful, essential choices.

Lol.

Thanks to the GOP, Obama care doesn't work. :crazy Is it too late to blame bush too?

STOP USING LOGIC!!! You're scaring away the liberals from the discussion!

HA! Saw the thread title and said "Gotta be Calamity". You never disappoint.

This assumes that people who don't get Medicaid in the states will have no medical care at all, which is false. Poor people in Texas, for example, already recieve care that's equal to or better than Medicaid through the county health programs such as this one. Medicaid would be a slight step down for them, and if they did get Medicaid they would be going to the same hospitals and clinics they go to now, but everything would be more crowded.

The problems with Medicaid are the same as those with the country health care -- long waiting lists, crowded ERs, limited formularies, etc. Low population counties with no local hospitals have to send patients to neighboring counties, but it would be the same with Medicaid.

There are a few others who, also, have started similarly mindless threads, based on the same stupid premise of trying to blame conservatives for the consequences of failed liberal policies. But Calamity is certainly one of the most prominent in this category.

That program is for people who make an absurdly low income (less than 20% of the FPL) and doesn't compare to the expansion of Medicaid coverage that the state rejected

And it only covers people in one county

Refusing to expand Medicaid under ACA is not a liberal policy. It is a republican policy.

Cardinal Fang come to mind also.

Those people qualify for the health exchange and subsidies to get insurance so i don't see what your ranting about. the only difference is they are going to have to pay for it instead of the tax payer.

the states that didn't expand medicaid is going to see a better economic outlook than those that did. why because in 2 or 3 years the states that expanded are going to have to start paying 10% of the expansion bill. that is going to equate to millions or in some cases billions of added expense on tax payers.

how do you propose that states (most of which can't balance their budgets now) pay for it?

things in FL don't look good anymore texas is looking better. we will probably have a democratic Gov who will expand medicaid then when the bill comes due i will get socked with higher taxes to pay for it.

although i think he needs congressional approval and i don't think the conservative are going to lose both houses. so that could be a plus.

actually it is fiscally smart policy.

Translation: The GOP can afford giving tax cuts to the richest 10% but not expanding Medicare for the poorest 2%. Go figure. So much for Christian Charity. Jeebus would be rolling over in his grave if he wasn't so busy planning his 2nd comming.

That's the same thing he said, but in different words.

LOL somehow i feel he would disagree with you. although yes i realize that it is a smart policy.
the ACA is just a disaster. a full cash system would work so much better.

Your post is a lie

You just argued that not expanding Medicaid was a "failed liberal policy" Now you've done a 180 and are claiming it's a "fiscally smart republican policy"

This is a lie. The people who make that little money (ie below FPL) are not eligible for subsidies so they can't afford to buy in the exchange.

the states that didn't expand medicaid is going to see a better economic outlook than those that did.

You couldn't get the facts straight about the present, so your predictions about the future are laughable.

May I suggest Rosetta Stone? Your translation needs lots of help.
