Nationwide, there are 657 lease terminations on the list, totaling about $350 million in lease savings.

Elon is doing what needs to be done to reign in the bloated bureaucracy, so we don't go broke and pass loads of debt to future generations. It's pretty simple economics, but the left is addicted to tax and spending without any restraint.

I know at least one. It's called SpaceX.
Don't like Musk?
There are likely 100's of small businesses that only exist as a result of government contracts. I may be wrong, but SpaceX probably would/could exist without need of government contracts.
I'm all in for reducing wasteful government spending, though I would really like to see our tax code changed to produce enough revenue to cover most every fiscal year budget without deficits, and perhaps even reduce the Federal debt a little in some years.

The as of date above should be 20 March. ---------------------------------------------^

1. Eliminate the FICA tax, adjust wages to account for the employer contribution.
2. Eliminate all forms of deductions, and simply tax the total gross income regardless of source.
3. Require each individual with a gross income greater than 1/4 the minimum wage to file a return.
4. Set the tax tables each year based on an algorithm, using increments of the GNI per capita applied to the progressive tax rates of 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, and 37%.

I'm actually in agreement with reducing govt spending, but not the crazy way that Trump/Musk are going about it. So when these so called savings contribute to an economic downturn that shrinks govt tax revenues, and widens the deficit even further, will @Bucky be as quick to allocate the cost/blame of that wider deficit?

There is no need to throw the baby out with the bath water and tank the economy while reducing govt spending. All that is needed is a proper plan and proper execution that is driven by the countrys' needs rather than the search for media headlines.

I agree. Government cost should be minimized and efficiencies should be realized where feasible.

However, lopping off pieces without regard for what they do is just going to cause harm and be unlikely to accomplish anything that will help the average person who is trying be sure they make next month's rent.

4.5T in tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

But $350M in leases (alleged…since we have already seen how DOGE is not really honest) is really what’s going to make a difference 😂😂😂😂

The government may reduce its debt but that will be passed on to the people. Unemployment is going to rise, inflation is going to rise, Housing costs are going to rise, Health care costs are going to rise, and income will lower. But hey, the government will be better off, especially those that run the government, Trump, Musk, and the other 13 oligarchs that are helping.

That is a good thing, right?

You have no idea of what he's doing and who it might hurt but you're thanking him. I bet you wouldn't be if your job had been cut. And you people call yourselves Americans. Shameful how much you hate others.

Any government contract terminations at SpaceX?

We can take the rest of it from people collecting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

Token “savings” immediately put into Elon Musk’s pocket aren’t going to do it, unfortunately.

.....but the Administration has told the courts that Musk is not incharge.....did they lie to the courts?

When tallying up Musk's alleged savings, the costs of attaining those savings should be part of the equation and that includes fees to end contracts and leases as well as termination pay, pay while on Administrative leave, costs of reinstating people and programs removed illegally or accidentally, legal fees etc. Business cases don't just have a savings column, they also have a costs column.

Musk is likely to get tens of Billions in government contracts from buying the government.

But hey... he apparently "saved" the taxpayer $350 Million which is less than he paid to be Trump's biggest donor.

He got the government for cheap.

This thread shows how easy it is to fool the Rubes who joined the MAGA cult.

Doge has been a revelation. It's only the beginning of the phase. We have a lot more useless departments to cut.

Ya'll still think this is why the deficits are where they are

You don't know what Elon is doing. You're not allowed to. He operates in secret and says whatever he wants about it.
