Let's look at the basic issue. Republicans are wholly owned by plutocrats, but were having a hard time electing a president. trump came along, and was able to win over voters, and was happy to give them all the plutocratic policies they could choke on. But his only real interest was his own. They tried to beat him and lost. So, they made a deal.

They supported him, in exchange for having the presidency. But it was never a comfortable relationship - they want an employee, not a cult leader out for his own agenda. Like an earlier, failed proposal in the last Congress to establish a special Social Security commission, Senator Romney’s bill sets up a fast track process that may lead to devastating proposals to reduce earned benefits and put older Americans on a pathway toward poverty.

Senator Romney’s legislation is yet another attempt at so-called “entitlement reform” that would strike at seniors. It overlooks the fact that Social Security benefits are paid for and earned during a lifetime of work and they should not be used to pay down deficits.

Furthermore, it ignores the realities facing many older Americans today, who are counting on Social Security for the majority of their income in retirement.

That’s why I respectfully urge you to reject the “TRUST Act” and instead support the

“Social Security 2100 Act,” which would boost benefits and keep Social Security solvent for more than 75 years, without raising the retirement age or cutting benefits.
