The fascist subhuman scum in Texas Republican Party voted to gerrymander the state e even more than it already is to make sure the 2026 midterms are rigged to favor the far right extremist party of the GOP so they can keep Congress.

Yeah. Well, then I say let California and every other Blue State respond in kind and Gerrymander away every fascist Republican seat at the Federal and State District levels.

I know, right? No chance this district is gerrymandered. They should totally gerrymander it.

But why should we stop there? Texas isn't slowing down on the gerrymandering.

There's plenty of room for us to work on this some more. Or for any blue state to do so.

The redrawn maps may favor the Republican party on paper, but their candidates still need to win election in those districts. Those redistricting maps were drawn using 2020 census data. Texas' population continues to grow, move around, and the demographics change right along with the growth and internal movement. And nobody expects Texas Democrats to roll over and play dead. Maybe Republicans will win some of those redrawn districts but probably not all of them.

This midterm redistricting at the behest of the President has to be one of the most blatantly politically nihilistic actions taken in modern day American politics.
The sad fact is that America is already pretty much doomed. Even if the dems win, they will just act like Schumer and accomplish nothing. It’s either racism with the gop or stagnation with the dems. That’s the choice anymore and in both cases America gets looted while regular people suffer.

Does not surprise me in the least. This is why the GOP is so against social programs that are for everyone, but for the wealthy. It would mean the end of the GOP.

This

It's corrupt to its core.

Gerrymandering is anti-democratic and flagrantly contrary to American values. And I maintain that view regardless of which party does it. But at this point in time it is clearly MAGA leading the race to the bottom.

I doubt my ‘blue’ congressional district could get any more gerrymandered. It has parts of 4 counties (yet no entire county) and parts of two cities about 80 miles apart.

Standard operating procedure for the gop, just change the rules to our favor.

And the base cheers it.

I’m in Cali.

Where do I sign up.

Maybe we can get trump to fire us and we can join Canada!

You do make a relevant point but it does not excuse the gerrymandering which is a blatant attempt to circumvent Trump's panic over his popularity. I hope the people of Texas see this as an insult and vote all their Dems in. However this is a state that votes in Ted Cruz over and over again when he's constantly on vacation during mass shootings and hurricanes and has sold this state out to Trump.

The whole thing is un-American. Independent boards should draw all 50 states and then you win kn your policy.
Trump knows the midterms typically flip. This is blatant corruption and instead of coming down on it you cry about cali.

Gerrymandering is baked into every state dominated by one political party. What is surprising is the out of cycle redistricting. The purpose of which is not to assuage Trump's popularity panic but to bolster the Republican party's chances for keeping its congressional majority. Trump seems to believe a Republican majority in the final two years of his term will continue obediently carry out his legislative whims. He may be in for a surprise once households start to feel the financial pinch coming from his love of tariffs, his ham-fisted agency reorganizations, and his authoritarian executive orders.

As for Ted Cruz's frequent vacations during times of crisis, just what did people expect from him? The grid failure of 2021 was wholly a state issue caused, in my opinion, by a combination of a historical storm and the negligence of the state in following through with their own prior investigations into infrastructure problems. I sure wish I'd thought about bundling up the family and headed off to Cancun. The Guadalupe River flooding catastrophe was a disaster because the state negligently failed to provide funding and other resources to some of the counties.

Cruz isn't up for reelection in 2026. The primary Texas watchers should focus on is the probable John Cornyn match up with Attorney General Ken Paxton. If Paxton wins, Texas Democrats best look long and hard and nominate a viable left of center candidate. The usual activist candidate will not make the cut with the electorate . . . unless the economy implodes. The mere thought of a Senator Ken Paxton gives me the shivers.
