How do you reconcile Abbott's monthly renewal of the Covid 19 disaster proclamation with his denial of all things covid? Those things including but not limited to shutdowns, mask mandates, abd vaccine funding.

Don't know what is in the disaster proclamation. Is it for the funding available? Maybe he's governing for all the Texans including some who like to wear masks?

And also those who like freezing in the dark, and having a $20K electric bill.

Abbott is hoping something will come along and take the Uvalde heat off, imo.

I've always heard that everything is bigger in texas but 20k for an electric bill? I'm not sure but I think someone is being gouged?

ERCOT offers "market flexibility rates". If you choose that option, your bill tracks with the current cost of electricity on a minute per minute basis, and it's charged to your credit card.

During the freeze a while back, people woke up with 20 large on their bill. Because they're Texans, and they LIKE that sorta thing.

They've reaped what they've sown.

Mine was $850 last month
Mine was $115.00 which also includes my natural gas. My total electric bill was $69.62. My actual usage cost, thirty dollars all the rest are fees and taxes.

House or apartment/condo/townhome?

Mine was $90 for my solar lease and $20 admin charge to Orange and Rockland which I resent since I am covering their peak usage at lower cost. Also racked up some future credit since I don't run the AC unless its really hot. Texas should be a prime spot for solar.

We had several weeks of 100+ and some days reaching 107-108. Do you consider that really hot?

House. Hope to bring it down even more with the recent trimming of a tree blocking a good bit of sun from hitting the solar panels I had installed back in april. It as usual also includes a lot of afternoon thunderstorms. This is with the ac set at seventy three.

Yep. Solar would come in handy. Still $850 seems high. Did you go out at all say to a mall or store? Or was the AC on 24/7.

Ours was $127, but our (all electric with central A/C) house is fairly small (952 sq. ft.). Our bills are in highest (about $160) during the (thankfully short) winter months since we have electric resistance heat.

We both work from home so we are home most of the time.

Wow,
BluTex,
What would you say about being in public? I would guess only about 1 or 2 out of ten wear a mask and I don't know if there are any mandates in Texas now. I wonder if there are they're not enforced.

Wait - this proclamation has been going on and I didn't even know, I mean I could've guessed. I would guess without knowing that Abbot doesn't know about these monthly proclamations either! Lol

The best I can tell it has to be some technicality in the paperwork and they're not even paying attention to their own BS, maybe.

there's no mandates in texas now, and they were barely enforced after that lady went to jail for opening her business.

needless to say, the politicians learned their lesson after that.

the electric issues here are still ongoing, and honestly, the elephant in the room has been the sheer amount of people migrating here from other states that closed down, putting strain o the system. There are other states that aren't dealing with this problem, and are having the same blackouts, so what's their excuse? not like the media would demand an excuse from them....
