Two migrants were found dead and at least 10 were hospitalized Friday after police in South Texas received a call that they were “suffocating” in a train car travelling near the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Uvalde Police Department said U.S. Border Patrol was informed of the phone call and able to stop the train. About 15 migrants were found inside, according to a statement from the department.

Desperation leads to desperate actions. We need to reform immigration laws. We need to recognize that we have more jobs than we have people...and those jobs do not require high education or qualifications.

When your border policies lead to scenes like this, you know you'll win the Democrat vote and people will become more desperate.

Correction: "Illegal aliens".

RIP

True, but reforming immigration laws is impossible when the Repubs refuse. They recognize that the immigrants coming up from the southern border tend to vote for more for the Democrats. That's why some asshats actually go out of their way to use dehumanizing terms to describe undocumented workers.

The present study examines why the term ‘‘illegal aliens’’ activates more prejudice than the term ‘‘undocumented workers.’’

Actually, that trend is swinging the GOP's way. 2016 was the beginning of that swing.

The last numbers I've seen were from 2020. While Cubans continue to lean conservative;

"...Nationwide, 58% of Cuban registered voters say they affiliate with or lean toward the Republican Party, while 38% identify with the Democratic Party or lean Democratic..."

Most other Hispanics continue to lean liberal;

"...By comparison, around two-thirds of Hispanic voters who are not Cuban (65%) identify as or lean Democratic, while 32% affiliate with the Republican Party..."

Interestingly, it seems the longer Cuban Americans live in America the more they drift towards the Democrats. Living here does tend to make some more intelligent when it comes to politics. :unsure:

"...Historically, Cuban Americans have backed the Republican Party in large numbers, but that support has at times softened as a new generation of U.S.-born, Democratic-leaning Cubans has come of age..."

Generally speaking, I think most Repubs continue to believe that immigrants coming up from the southern border will be, 'on the dole' and as such they'll tend to vote for the Democrats, hence the bug up their ass over immigration...

"...When asked if “immigration at the southern border” is a “major crisis,” 69 percent of Republican voters said it was, compared with 25 percent of Democratic voters, according to progressive polling firm Navigator Research..."

shhhhhhhhhhhh

nobody cares about these deaths, the sex/human trafficking, the drugs/cartels and the humanitarian crisis on the southern border

doing something would mean not getting $0.69 avocado's and we can't have that ... so please, stop talking about it and pretend we have a strong secure border

Open boarders isn't immigration reform.

I think it depends a lot of how they are treated. Republicans would get more votes from migrants that come from Latin America if they treated them differently....Latin Americans tend to be fairly religious and conservative...but they don't vote that way because they are treated so badly by the right.

Its borders, not boarders...and there aren't any open borders...nor is anyone except libertarians advocating for such.
What you support is open boarders. You just didn't think it through.

Nope, I don't. I do support a person being able to have a boarder in their home....but there is no such thing as open boarders(hint boarder is someone you rent a room to. Border is a line that defines a boundary) I also, don't support open borders.....and nothing that I have ever said here even faintly suggests that.

Umm hmm...then tell me what "immigration reform" means to you.

It means taking a look at the entire system and changing it to fit both our needs and establish a fair system...it also means getting rid of this 30 year wait crap...if a person is approved they are approved....it means more immigration judges so that cases can be determined faster and a streamlined process that is easy to understand and not requiring of thousands upon thousands of dollars for an immigration attorney. It means also establishing stricter requirements for employers who hire people without proper documentation. We can take on better, more efficient border security and at the same time look, at what laws are causing us problems. The law that Clinton passed in 1995 created a mountain of problems....do you know why?

"Both of who's" needs? Oh...and the 30 year wait? Why do we have that? More immigration judges and lawyers to make the transition faster? Do it all for "free" (read at US tax payer expense, would be A LOT).

You know why there is a wait and why it's all backed up, right? It's because so many want to come in. No apparatus can be put in place to process all the numbers, and if we meet your unattainable objectives the, there we go, de facto open boarders. As many people walk in that want to. No difference here, which brings us right back to what I said, your support open borders, but you didn't think it through to what you support actually means. If you deny that, then we're back to having people backed up and or not being allowed in and then they immigrate illegally.
