Texas police officer under fire after message to illegal immigrants goes viral | Fox News

Here's a guy I wouldn't want him protecting my streets.

His heart was in the right place. If he wasn't in uniform...no problem. With that uniform on, you are speaking for your department and town.

While I certainly have zero problems with local police refusing to expend money and manpower on federal immigration matters, this officer was out of line making public statements like that. Leave that stuff to the Mayor and the Chief of Police.

You're fired!

That is all.

In Texas, lawmakers don't mess with employers of undocumented workers

For all their condemnations of illegal immigration, Texas lawmakers — Republican and Democratic — have shown little interest in cracking down on businesses that employ undocumented workers.

I've said this for YEARS. The business friendly GOP is in no hurry to stop illegals, They never have, even in Texas. And they NEVER will.. The GOP base has been lied to all these years.

No idea why this went viral other than it might be an emotional issue. He has the right to have opinions and express them. He screwed up in two ways. He wore a uniform and that leaves the impression that he is co-mingling his professional position with is personal opinion. He doesn't have authorization to speak for the department. The other issue is that some cities are trying to avoid the label of "sanctuary city" to avoid a legal battle with the DOJ. This guy just gave the DOJ a hand full of ammunition in that fight to label Fort Worth as a sanctuary city. If I were the mayor of Fort Worth I would have his ass. Minimum he would be feeling teeth marks in his butt cheeks for six months.
