You'd be totally cool with it if Trump's prison lacked AC in the summer then, yes?
Don't do the crimes if you cant do the time, amirite?
You're gonna let Trump sweat off them pounds without complaint if Trump's cell lacks AC?
And denied access to drinking water. Your support for cruelty is noted.
As is yours.
This is the counterargument of course. One oppositional factor is that the facilities may reach higher temperature then that. I believe 120 was stated.
I never made choices to get myself incarcerated
This new idea of "oh, its hot outside" blows my mind
I'd work 10 hours a day in a hayfield and it 110 heat index - and guess what? every man and woman who ever worked hard in the fields, mines, rock quarries, steel mills etc etc over the last few hundreds years did the same
no, I'm sure the heat isn't comfortable, but I'm also very very leery of any report that says "being cooked alive" when that means a temperature way way hotter than 100
cruelty is likely what many of the prisoners did
prison is supposed to be horrible enough nobody would ever want to do things to get in there
you have to do betterAnd denied access to drinking water. Your support for cruelty is noted.

you have to do better
The point that you completely ignore is that while in prison the state has the job of giving them a basic level of living.
Making them stay in conditions where some of them are actually dying from heat stroke is not living up to that.
They're stuck in cells and have no escape from conditions we don't even allow cattle to suffer.
This lack of basic compassion is really telling.
Even prisoners have rights. Otherwise we are no better than North Korea. Is that what you are advocating for?
It is not supposed to be a death sentence for most people.
Just stop.
This is just dishonest.and isn't
You first.just stop
you are right, I don't have a lot of compassion for people in prison
This is just dishonest.
41 people have died as a result of excessive heat.
Stop supporting cruel and unusual punishment.
You first.
Texas is lying to cover for themselves.Although a 2023 Texas Tribune analysis estimates that there were at least 41 heat-related deaths in state prisons last year, officials with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice have repeatedly said there hasn't been a heat-related fatality since 2012.Jul 30, 2024
hmmm
seems like the Tribune wanted to create a story .. or maybe Texas DOCJ is lying ....
you an I don't know the truth - but keep believing you do
That is just sad.
Texas is lying to cover for themselves.
Don't tell me you actually believe that bunch of bullshit.
Yeah, people are dying of heat-related issues in Texas prisons and the reich-wing government of Texas is trying to cover it up.
Where is it written that prisoners have a right to air conditioning?
Were there any A/C units visible in the movies "Cool Hand Luke" or "Shawshank Redemption" or "Escape from Alcatraz" or "White Heat"?
"Lacking compassion, one wishes suffering to continue." - Little Buddhayou are right, I don't have a lot of compassion for people in prison
"Tonglen reverses the usual logic of avoiding suffering and seeking pleasure and, in the process, we become liberated from a very ancient prison of selfishness. We begin to feel love both for ourselves and others and also we being to take care of ourselves and others. It awakens our compassion and it also introduces us to a far larger view of reality. It introduces us to the unlimited spaciousness that Buddhists call shunyata. By doing the practice, we begin to connect with the open dimension of our being."
I'm saying our grandfathers and their fathers and grandfathers lived through working hard and tough in the heat ..... prisoners don't have any more rights than that no
and they pretty much gave up all their rights when they broke laws and got sent to prison for their crimes - and these are no going to be non-violent first time offenders
I don't know that guy - rapper ?"Lacking compassion, one wishes suffering to continue." - Little Buddha
I simply am no worried if their feet has a blister or if the heat is a little high or if they're missing a cigarette etcWhy do you wish those in prison further suffering? They've already had their physical freedoms taken away.
Here's a meditation exercise that may help individuals gain some insight into the construct of loving-kindness and emerge from their own "prisons of selfishness."
The suggested method for tonglen meditation varies from teacher to teacher, but it usually is a breath-based meditation in which the meditator visualizes taking in the pain and suffering of all other beings on each inhalation, and giving away our love, compassion, and joy to all suffering beings with each exhalation. When practiced with complete sincerity, it quickly becomes a profound experience, as the sensation is not one of symbolic visualization at all, but of literally transforming pain and suffering. Buddhism and Compassion
Just about everything you wrote was wrong. Even prisoners have rights, like it or not, and that includes the right not to die of heat exhaustion, which you obviously don't mind.
You make lots of wild assumptions in every paragraph you wrote. The question is as you stated it. If it didn’t exist at the time of the Constitution is it covered? You are protected from unreasonable search and seizure. Your person and papers are protected. So electronic stuff should be accessible by the cops on a whim since electronics did not exist. The cops shouldn’t need a warrant to come in and inspect your computers right?
Photographs, movies, and audio recordings, they just didn’t exist so copywrite of movies and music would be illegal. Right?
As another pointed out the Second Amendment would cover Muskets right? No cartridges, nor even percussion caps. Just basic flintlock weapons are covered.
That’s the problem when you make such an idiotic argument. You would not apply it to anything else. Cruel and Unusual is left up to interpretation of the people of the time. They didn’t specify what was cruel and unusual. They just said it was banned.
I’m betting if you heard the Supremes were considering interpreting the Second based upon what was available at the time it was ratified you would be screaming socialist or fascist takeover.
Trump won't see the inside of a jail cell ever. You're gonna let Trump sweat off them pounds without complaint if Trump's cell lacks AC?
