http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/26/texas-group-to-offer-coll_n_828684.html?ref=fb&src=sp#sb=545756 said:The group, called the Former Majority Association for Equality, was formed by Texas State University student Colby Bohannan and others and hopes to provide four $500 scholarships to white men by July (donations are being accepted via the group's website).
The group's mission statement says that it wants to "provide monetary aid to those that have found the scholarship application process difficult because they do not fit into certain categories or any ethnic group."
I wish this group existed while I was in college, although I didn't grow up in Texas.
Help should be given out based on individual need, not based on whether one belongs to an ethnic group.
I know a South African white guy who fled his country because of violence against whites. Now he is struggling in Canada to make a life for himself, but he can't get scholarships because he is WHITE. It's a joke. He went to fill out university applications, and they ask: "Are you a visible minority?" He had to say no. That is basically like saying if your skin is WHITE, you cannot get financial help or reduced tuition.
The system needs to be MERIT BASED. If you can't afford school, then you have merit for scholarships. I am tired of the reverse racism.
The people who created this scholarship are Grade-A douchenozzles.

Minority scholarships are set up to offer a minority individual a chance to attend a college or university that they would otherwise be unable to attend due to finances. It should surprise no one on this board that minorities still need help after 300-plus years of slavery, oppression, and mistreatment. If you are the kind that thinks that racism is dead, everything is equal nowadays, and all minorities are developing a sense of entitlement, then i'd urge you to spend a little more time educating yourself on the issue.
As a white individual, I had no problem attending college. I had no problem with graduate school, either. I was lucky enough to be born into a family that could financially provide for my education, and if they couldn't, there were plenty of avenues open to me for loans, scholarships, and grants. It's the same with every white individual on this board. Not so in the black community. It's okay to say that scholarships and loans should be merit-based, but if you are the type of person who isn't willing to pump more money into primary education to ensure that black students have access to the same level of education as their white counterparts, then that's just silly. The goal is to equal the playing field, and right now, it is far from that.
Along with everybody else who created race based scholarships. Race should have absolutely nothing to do with getting a scholarship.
That's my problem with Liberalism. They still think that blacks can't make it on our own and need the help of white Liberal do-gooders to get ahead in life.
Black kids have the same oppurtunity at getting the same quality of education in public schools as white kids do. I'll be so glad when people stop with that bull****.

The guy that did this is obviously, as previously mentioned, a douchenozzle, he's just perpetuating a system of race based scholarships.
I wonder how many conservatives complain about 'Italian-American scholarships'. It always seems to be bitching about black people having scholarships for black people.
It should be merit based, with no regard to skin color, background, etc... but since that's not reality and there are special groups who garner "only _____" status, then I see no problem with a "white" or "black" or "indian" or "italian" or whatever... each group wants to be included with their own special scholarships since they are not eligible for all.
Does the scholarship apply to clown college?
Maybe we'll have so many someday, people will realize how silly it is and we can start giving them all on merit and economics.
Is there a scholarship fund for older short white women?
