For the most part, that would be finding what they want to find. That's an option, I suppose. Another option would be to pay attention to behavioral studies that find long term psychological damage in young children due to corporal punishment.
Absolutely nothing wrong with kids getting paddled at school. If they got paddled a bit more at HOME, maybe the schools wouldn't need to do it. Corporal Punishment is a good and necessary part of the upbringing of a child, and always has been. It's not like these kids are being spanked on a bare bottom folks.
Hog wash.
I was spanked as a child by my dad (and worse at times), my mother used a wooden spoon on my hands and guess what...I'm about the nicest person you will ever meet.
So you don't object to a school administrator copping a feel on your teen daughter anytime they feel like it? The fact that the guy violated the policy that was in place twice suggests it wasn't really a case of them not being able to find a female teacher but rather him being a scumbag. As for the school changing its policy to give Chester the Molester free reign, that's about what the rest of us expect from Texas where inbreeding has apparently taken a terrible toll.
And I'm certainly happy you turned out that way. There is, however, a very good reason why anecdotal evidence isn't as good as scientific evidence from the observation of multiple test subjects. You claiming you turned out just fine is no different than you saying it's summer and me disagreeing on the basis that it's chilly where I am.
Actually bad analogy there. It can still be chilly in the summer time.
In any case I would bet that I could find just as many people as that "study" of yours has and come up with a different conclusion. Provided I had the time and money to do it of course. Studies can be rigged.
That actually doesn't refute my analogy in the least.
Have at it.
Sure it does. If you don't accept facts that are undisputable then that isn't my problem.
Gimmie the money.
In my experience people on debate forums who lay claim to some monopoly on "facts" or "critical thinking" have the least intention of using them. You haven't stated any facts, you've only proved that there can be exceptions to the whole. I've yet to hear of a behavioral study where 100% of the observed subjects had the same reactions to the same stimuli, so your claim that your papa spanked you and you turned out fine was not only painfully predictable, but doesn't do jack to refute the overall studies I linked to.
Or you could spend five frigging minutes to google it yourself. Sweet Jebus, don't be so lazy!
Texas district’s new policy allows educators of either gender to paddle male, female students - The Washington Post
"Yeah, yeah," you might be thinking while rolling your eyes. "Texas." But then I came across this later in the article.
Boy, just when you think you know your own country.
My point in that was to show you that your analogy was a bad one. But I'm sure you knew that didn't you? No where have I claimed that that study...or any study showed 100% of the observed subjects had the same reactions. Its been my experiance that those that try and twist what is said have no intention of honestly debating.
Perhaps you missed what I said. I said that I could take the same amount of people as what is in your study and come to a different conclusion as that study...if I had the money and time to do so. IE I would do the same amount of work. A 5 minute google search is irrelevent to my statement.
And btw...since when is offering to do the same amount of work as what was put into your study considered "lazy"? Comparatively speaking spending 5 mins on google would be less work than offering to conduct the same kind of study...so how is it "lazy"?
That's really not necessary, Kal'Stang. All you really need to do is submit your own study to American Psychologist. You could title it something snappy like "My daddy whooped me and ah turned out fine." Actually that would be the entirety of the study, but you know what they say about brevity!
Again, give me the money and i'll do the study.
There is a difference between paddling and "copping a feel". Paddling is done with an implement, on a covered bottom. End of story.
I'm telling you, you don't need to. You've obviously got all the research you need.
My mistake. So this guy just gets off on paddling female students. That's assuming you are right though I have to wonder why there ever would have been a stipulation against opposite gender discipline if no real physical contact was involved. Either way, two violations of the policy before they made it pedo friendly should at least result in a suspension without pay and a very close look into his behavior past and future involving female students. Wanna bet he votes Republican?
Actually I do. 37 years worth of living from one end of the country to the other meeting tons of different people and knowing their life. Of course like you others will just term it "ancedotal evidence" for the simple fact that it doesn't coincide with thier personal belief system. They would rather listen to someone with a paper in a frame and an agenda and maybe a years worth of work than their own life experiances (or someone elses life experiances).
Wow...stupidest post in this thread yet. A guy paddles a girl and they are a pedo and get off on it? Really? You need to get that chip on your shoulder looked at.....

I don't think he "gets off on" paddling students of either gender. There's a stipulation against it for the same reason that we have to have female LEOs pat down female suspects..... POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.
Two violations of a policy that was stupid to begin with.... OMG!!!! Call the National Guard out, boys. Oh, and I couldn't care any less who he votes for.
