Teens having less sex now than in the '80s
Looks like our youth loses its sexual drive. What's the reason behind it? I bet it's because of all those means of entertainment we have today. Sex becomes less important with those endless TV shows and videogames. Though the reason may be different. Maybe it's because of feminism conquering the teens' minds. Teens are scared of creating steady relationships since they may backfire (girls can always blame their partners in sexual harassment).

maybe theyre scared of getting arrested as sex predators and being forced to register as sex offenders.

Feminism conquering the teens' minds?

Okaaaaaaay.

I don't know why they are apparently having less sex. My guess is that access to pornography, which is hugely easier now then in the 80's, is one reason.

Maybe they've switched to virtual sex.

I've thought that the problem has always been with this new instant communication age.

It's not just computer games, it's the personal communication systems everyone has access to. It's not the blessing everyone thinks. Look around and you will see kids spending more time texting each other than talking to each other. They don't have to interact on a personal, "face-to-face" level anymore. As a result they are socially awkward, never having learned how to meet, talk, interact.

So, instead of being outgoing, they become isolated introverts, spending more and more time in their fantasy video worlds. Like another member said, lack of physical activity coupled with junk food doesn't help either.

That.

Or internet porn.

Mind you, I'll take it.

Looks like you guys all agree.

Whatever the reason, the results are a good thing.

Teens have no business boinking.

They have no skills and they cannot support families.

They need to be studying and learning and getting ready for college or trade school.

Too bad that the reason probably is internet porn.

I try to limit myself to what I actually know, and what I actually know is that teens had a lot of sex in 1970.

In our high school back then it was roughly 5%. Mostly the same miscreant boys and girls with each other. But that was a private school, not a public sh!t hole.

Yet, my attending a "public **** hole" did not prevent me from being accepted to Stanford.

Funny, that.

I blame the internet.

Yeah, I think you are right. Internet made us too dependent on our PCs and tablets. Many people start to forget about the real life. Also there are terabytes of porn on the Internet. Many people don't care about sexual life since internet becomes a substitute of everything.

I noticed the article and maybe the study cited only mentioned intercourse. There are a lot more ways of being "sexually active" than actual intercourse. I would be curious as to what a more comprehensive survey reveals.

What you are really saying is that in your private (religious?) school only ~5% of students were, by your personal experience, incautious or 'miscreant' enough to be known to be sexually active. Whether or not the actual number was lower than other schools, it seems likely (particularly given your own attitude) that a sizeable number of your pure and innocent peers simply kept quiet about 'descending' to that "**** hole" level.

And let's not pretend that most of us did not think of the possible pun there

The miscreants bragged about it. The other kids would never dare disobey their parents or the Church.

There are always little miscreants everywhere you go. Sometimes their poison is premarital sex. Sometimes drugs. Sometimes crime.
