France says the Security Council should consider the use of force in Syria if a UN-backed peace plan fails to stop violence in the country.
"We cannot allow the [Damascus] regime to defy us," French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said.

Is it just me, or are French politicians amazingly brave when volunteering others?
It's kind of like socialism is donating other peoples money to charity, just moved to military matters. We volunteer all of you to defend our pride! We can't have this regime defy us!!! So... um... you guys fix that.
For your information, France has sent their own troops on several foreign missions, including special forces troops to help NATO in Afghanistan, a few thousand troops to keep the peace in Cote d'Ivoire, several thousand troops along the Israeli-Lebanon border to enforce the ceasefire, not to mention they and the British contributed heavily to the no-fly zone over Libya during the Libyan Civil War/Uprising with Rafale and Mirage fighters and numerous French Navy ships.
I know it's popular to play the "French are all cheese-eating surrender monkeys" card, but that stereotype doesn't exactly mesh with reality.
It's just you. Read up on French politics and wars and you'll see that they go to war more than we do. Also, they just had their 1st round in presidential elections and are headed into the 2nd round and the current right-wing administration under Sarkosy is losing his ass off to the socialist party candidate François Hollande and as usual, to maintain an image of leadership Sarkosy often rolls into the "tough-guy" appearance and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if this is tied to that.
They had some Muslim nutjob kid shoot 7 people dead a few months back and because Sarkosy was losing in the polls, he went on a tirade saying that this was France's 9/11. Yep, he went all the way there.
If I recall correctly, France was the first country to join us in Afghanistan after 9/11. They also are the reason why our country exists thanks to the blockade they held on our shores during the revolutionary war. Don't know why they get such a bad rap from us.
The french are still stuck in the Colonial Era. Where Britain has backed off its colonies from the 1800s, France somehow keeps involved. It is a source for many of their conflicts.
Britain's backed off? Falkland Islands. Slew of islands in the Carribean.
France still has all their African interests and is ****ing that all up. One kind of karma that is biting them in the ass however is that they created a pointless war in Algeria a few decades back and now they have a massive Muslim immigration in which a huge portion of that is from Algeria now.
The US has backed off their national imperialism and instead of putting our country's face on our expansion we hide our imperialism through a corporate face and declaring "free trade." Then we act innocent when other nations get pissed at how we are stiff-arming their culture.
America...well, we are the exporters of imperialism.
Explain. What do you mean by that claim?
...what does he not mean?
It's pretty clear.
Pretend it's not.
Explain it to me.
What? Okay... I can explain it in super easy speak.
USA. is. economic. protectorate. spanning. half. globe.
A fact without filler or convictions, whats the issue?
So you think the sudden attempt at bravery speech, is entirely do to political advantages. That makes a lot of sense.
What? Okay... I can explain it in super easy speak.
USA. is. economic. protectorate. spanning. half. globe.
A fact without filler or convictions, whats the issue?
... I feel a torrential downpour of neo-imperialist denial coming...
What exactly does that mean.

... I feel a torrential downpour of pointless leftists posts that add nothing to the conversation coming....
I'm sorry sweetheart, is this thread not going how you intended? I guess the world is a bit more complex than e-based Sean Hannity impersonations.
It can be hard to understand things that people understand... that you don't.
Give the fella a break
No no but France is full of surrender monkeys. Never you mind they're a political power with troops in most major multinational military organizations.
or general kickassery when not eating cheese and drinking wine.
Like that terrorist that one guy sniped in the face as he fell from a third story window. Awesome-sauce.
