A man has admitted to driving the vehicle from which Jazmine Barnes, 7, was fatally shot in Texas last week, according to a prosecutor at Harris County Probate Court.

Eric Black Jr. told officials he was driving the vehicle while another suspect Larry W. opened fire from the front seat on the vehicle in which Jazmine was a passenger, the prosecutor said in court.

(CNN) Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes, and they're giving credit to a tip from social activist and writer Shaun King.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the victims went through a traumatic experience and mistook a white guy in a pickup for the shooter, and the police followed procedure for this kind of case by releasing the sketch based on that mistake. Given your background, as I'm sure you're aware, most people don't know which way is up once bullets start flying by, especially when they and their loved ones are being shot. As I understand it, law enforcement thought the shooter was white, but the tip that led to the driver was apparently pretty solid.

While most people involved in a situation like this are out of whack on some details it's a bit unusual to have the PD release a sketch showing a person of one race when the actual shooter is another race. Maybe everyone's emotions got the best of them in this but that's a pretty serious screw up. I mean, it's rather unlikely that a white person blaming a black person for shooting their kid would get the benefit of the doubt when it turns out to be a white guy.

The same Shaun King posted that the white guy did it, but it turns out he was driving in that area and was fleeing the shooting.

what should the media accounts have eliminated from or added to their coverage
