Survey: America wants stronger gun laws by huge margin

The right of the minority to own military grade weapons for who knows what insane purpose, over the dead bodies of our children?

No.

This is about as much OVER DRAMATIZED as they come.
Worthy of some political oratory speech in the 1800's.
(don't forget the viola and cello in the background)

A lot of dead children say it.

Time for a new hobby.

Throwing personal liberties down the toilet is that easy for you eh?

"Freedom doesn't mean safe, it means free."

The titles still have to be licensed and registered to the owner.

Nope. Gun deaths are catching up. They are dangerous enough. Time for something to change.

No, they dont.

And no, homicides are not increasing...even if theses shootings make it seem otherwise. If it's suicides? That's not a danger to the public.

No. It is important for me to have children free to go to school without fearing regular massacres. This country is not as free as Somalia or the remote villages of Afghanistan. This is a civilized country.

What are you proposing that will stop school massacres? I've seen a lot that will stop normal folks from obtaining guns. But not much that will stop mentally unstable folks.

Whatever it is they are doing in every single other civilized country on the planet.

China does fit my line just fine. They don't have monthly massacres in their schools either, just like every other developed or developing country on the planet.

The US, on the other hand, is competing only with places like Somalia and the remote villages of Afghanistan for the amount of freedom from government and level of gun violence. Yay freedom.
Freedom has a price. These shootings have a solution, it's not rocket science to figure it out.

So why don't we ask the NRA what it is they oppose when they say things like this:You can ask the NRA whatever you want, they don't represent American's in any official capacity.

Some cars are not street legal. AR-15 shouldn't be either.

Wrong again me bucko, guns ar e a right cars are not, I don't recall seeing any restrictions from the founders on guns.

You're correct I don't. Because even Trump, Rubio, and the NRA agree that certain mental health issues SHOULD be a factor. You can't say that it's a right to clinically diagnosed psychopathic schizophrenics to buy AR-15s. That medical condition is a deal breaker. Registering and licensing gun ownership is not taking away anyone's rights. And no you can't haul around any crazy weapon anywhere you please any time you please. That's not your right. And that's not my opinion. That is the opinion of Justice Scalia in the Heller supreme court decision.
What part of "shall not be infringed" are you having trouble with?

Because more people use their cars than guns.

You got a link to that?

It's a solution that every other civilized country on the planet has figured out. What is it?

Every other nation doesn't matter which one it is, is not the United States of America, we have a very unique set of conditions and circumstances. Our govt. cannot be trusted and they have shown this fact time and time again.

Don't compare apples to Oranges.

If your issue is mistrust of the government and not just protecting your home, then you are going to need a nuclear ICBM for every garage and attic in the country, with DC's coordinates pre-programmed in. Your little AR-15 won't do jack if they try to get tyrannical on you.

You let me worry about me and I'll let you worry about you. I'm not the one trying to remove anyone's rights.

Your worries about you are killing my kids. Your rights to swing your arms around freely stop where my nose, or kid, start.

My worries don't touch anyone but me. My rights are my rights, plain and simple, I, last I checked, haven't shot anyone let alone you or your kids. I suggest you take up your beef with the shooter(s).

When these trucks mow down dozens of people again, will you want to take away my driving privileges too?

And that is why we have a Constitution. It protects the minority rights when the majority is wrong.

Yes, that is correct. But in the case of guns, the rights claim by many on the far right of this issue do not exist in the first place in our Constitution.

Not that simple. I won't even let you drive past certain very particular speeds on the roads. Your rights are not always just your rights. That's just a level of selfishness that's not acceptable. Just ask this former 2nd amendment advocate. He too was all about his own rights, until he realized it's not just about him:

"I've been a proponent of the 2nd amendment my entire life, until the events of last night. I cannot express how wrong I was.

We actually have members of our crew with CHL licenses and legal firearms on the bus. They were useless. We couldn't touch them for fear police might think that we were part of the massacre and shoot us. A small group (or one man) laid waste to a city with dedicated, fearless police officers desperately trying to help, because of access to an insane amount of fire power.

Enough is enough.

Writing my parents and the love of my life a goodbye last night and a living will because I felt like I wasn’t going to live through the night was enough for me to realize that this is completely and totally out of hand. These rounds were powerful enough that my crew guys just standing in close proximity of a victim shot by this f—ing coward received shrapnel wounds.

We need gun control RIGHT. NOW. My biggest regret is that I stubbornly didn’t realize it until my brothers on the road and myself were threatened by it. We are unbelievably fortunate to not be among the number of victims killed or seriously wounded by this maniac."
-Caleb Keeter, after the Vegas massacre

Driving at excessive speed is not a right, it's not even a privilege, it's against the law. If I get caught I get a ticket, if I continue I will at some point lose my privilege, if I continue still I will go to jail.

Funny how you quote a person without giving up their name or position.

You can't distinguish between a right and a privilege, emotion and fact, please don't respond again as I won't to you, you haven't got it my friend. (Somehow I'm sure you'll need to get in the last dumbfounded word)

Your right to arms is not unlimited. Just like you can't drive any crazy car on the road, at whatever speed you want, anywhere you want, you can't own whatever weapon you want, for any reason you want, anywhere you want. That's not just my opinion. That is the opinion of the Supreme Court:

"Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose."
-Antonin Scalia, opinion in Heller vs. DC

Did you purposeful post a link to a satire sight because you believe it or just not smart enough to tell the diffrence between fact and fiction?

Dude!! Bush do not stand on a street corner and yell out his thoughts. He executed policies based on BS. That is not free speech. That is the president of the United States lying his ass off so he can get a war to steal oil.

And how much oil was "stolen," exactly?

Gun deaths are overtaking car accidents in number of fatalities. Mass shooting are getting more and more commonplace and more lethal. Yet you chant "nothing to see here move along"? We have made huge reductions in auto fatalities by mandating safety devices in cars and trucks yet you think we should just ignore the fact that the U.S. is the most gun violent country in the Western world and do nothing about it? This is not the wild west and as populations grow so will the gun problem. Plenty of Western countries enjoy gun sports while maintaining control over the proliferation of guns we are experiencing here.

Yawn... the facts.. we have less violent crime that we have almost ever had. Even including the mass shootings. That's the facts. Now.. I am not saying.. "nothing to see here" when it comes to mass shootings. But I am also not going to go knee jerk running in the streets screaming "this is not the wild west".... because the reality is that its not, AND we have more firearms.

We don't have a gun problem. Like you said.. firearms have proliferated... and yet the facts are... that violent crime is down.. in fact we are at one of the lowest violent times ever.

You want to state we have a problem with firearms that simply does not exist.

Do we have a problem with mental health in this country? Yes...

Problem with inequity etc.. yes.

Those are the things that are causing some of the "mass violence" that we do have today.

But.. "its the gun".. just doesn't fly in the face of the facts.

Actually no its not.

Because I CAN own any crazy car I want..As many as I want.. and look, I can be a felon and buy one.

We already have laws that state I cannot simply shoot firearms anywhere I want.

Oh but saying that better background checks is going to mean Obama is personally going to come to your house and kick the door down and take your hunting rifle away from your cold dead hands is so original and a very rational, insightful, and constructive argument. OK.

Please show me some evidence that this was a widely used argument.
