The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for trans minors in a blockbuster ruling that will bolster efforts by conservative state lawmakers to pass and preserve other divisive laws targeting transgender Americans.

The 6-3 decision by a conservative majority is a major blow to the transgender community and its advocates at a critical time. Since 2020, Republican-led states around the country have passed a wave of laws regulating the lives of trans Americans, with a particular focus on minors. And President Donald Trump, who ran for reelection in part on ending the “transgender lunacy,” has taken several steps intended to roll back gains made by that community.
Sanity prevails.

I am fine with restrictions on surgery till they are of legal age. Preventing reversible care is just being a dick to be a dick which you probably refer to as sanity.

The only care that is "reversible" for youth is counseling. Even hormone therapy causes irreversible permanent changes.

"The state argued it had a compelling interest in “encouraging minors to appreciate their sex” and argued it is empowered to make decisions regulating medical treatments. That was an argument that appeared to find a receptive audience when the case was argued in December."

Wow. Its like an attack on thought.

I’d like to leave that topic to practicing doctors and mental health practitioners. Suicide is also an irreversible permanent change.

The judges know better about health than the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Psychological Association.
In a major ruling, the Supreme Court on Friday cut back sharply on the power of federal agencies to interpret the laws they administer and ruled that courts should rely on their own interpretion of ambiguous laws. The decision will likely have far-reaching effects across the country, from environmental regulation to healthcare costs.

Get used to it. 😡They make me so mad!

Sotomayor points out that the majority "does irrevocable damage" to the equal protection clause and "invites legislatures to engage in discrimination by hiding blatant sex classifications in plain sight." She fears the damage in Skrmetti will go well beyond gender-affirming care, and the CNN article agrees.

The dropout rate for transition is less than 4%.

There is no counseling that will effectively treat gender dysphoria. What conservative podcast do you get your news from?

Its also wrong and based on conservative propaganda.

That is an obvious euphemism for conversion therapy. The kids/teens know what their sex is but they also know that their gender identity does not match their biological sex. These teens arent confused.

You lose and the predatory attempts to trans minors will be squashed.

What nonsense predatory attempts are you accusing me of? Are you gay because someone adult made a predatory effect to make you gay? Did you ever call Wexner and ask them to explain the facts to you? You should.

There is some seriously tortured reasoning in there. This is not a surprise given the ideological makeup of the Court, but still sad. I hope trans kids and their parents can move out of these backwater bigoted states as quickly as possible.

You’ve been educated already. HB 68 will soon be revived and I’ll be watching.

SCOTUS has spoken.
So cry, whine, tell it's wrong, propaganda, whatever you need to do.

It's done.
The SCOTUS often gets it wrong and bases decisions on partisan ideas. The Roberts court gets is wrong more often than most.

You’ve been educated already.
I have no been educated by anything you have ever said?

Why are so many gay males transphobes?

People will leave this backward state to get care in other states. Why do you care about the medical care of others if you're not a busybody?
