http://thehill.com/opinion/healthca...a-public-health-crisis-that-is-on-the-horizonA British man has been diagnosed with what some are calling the world’s “worst-ever” case of gonorrhea – a strain that is reportedly resistant to all antibiotics normally used to treat the disease. This report is a confirmation of one of our greatest fears — untreatable gonorrhea could be on the very near horizon at a time when rates of the infection and of STDs overall are at record highs in this country. When we see a case like this in the U.K., it’s not a question of if, but when we’ll see it in the U.S. And once it’s here, it could spread quickly.
Antibiotic resistance is one of the most significant health threats globally, and Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified antibiotic resistant gonorrhea as one of the three most urgent threats in the realm of drug resistance in the U.S. That’s in part because gonorrhea is so widespread — more than 800,000 infections are estimated to occur in the United States each year — and left untreated, it can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, particularly for women.

Maybe that Sex Ed position of "Do it with a Condom!" isn't work out so well, maybe toss in a "Stay virgin till you're married if you can help it and be monogamous" would be a good message to ALSO add...
This message was brought to us by the people who want to cut sex ed.
According to the chart on page 12, the South has the highest rates of Gonorrhea. The chart on page 5 shows the south has the highest rates of chlamydia. The chart on page 23 shows the 5 of the states with the highest rate of syphillis are in the south.

We should work to eradicate these, and many other common, treatable illnesses. Only way you do that is with some public spending on health care an education, without religious kooks, anti-vaccers, etc., slowing it down.

I mean.... the south has more black people.... and they have STDs at a rate of 4-6 times higher. I also assume there is a correlation among poor populations too, and the south is historically more poor.
NY and CA are right in there with them.

Next we should look at the demographics.
Blacks lead consistently for cases in Gonorrhea-2016
Black men lead for cases in Syphilis - 2016

So what?
What about not qualifying those Americans as black or poor and just say they're Americans?
Now, find solutions.
Wait.... what?
I was simply explaining the statistic... the person I replied to was implying it was politics that had something to do with it.... when it's actually demographics that plays the most significant role.
Politics? 'Sangha' said it was about 'sex ed'. I didn't see anything about politics in his post.
An why does demograpics matter? We're talking about Americans, right? Americans who live in the south.
Maybe politics is not the correct word.
Sex ed!.... I am saying the south rates of STDs could not be a function sex ed, but instead a function demographics... and poverty. Because if a certain population has significantly higher numbers of STDs, and this group of people tend to live in a certain area... the averages in that areas would be skewed to that demographic. Could be the same for poverty...
Could have absolutely nothing to do with sex ed.
It's because they're black. I get it. But they're Americans first. There's a public health issue that needs to be adressed, yes? One that might become more serious if this virulent new strain shows up in America.
What are you saying? Because they are black? Who are you even talking to?
All I am saying is that there is not necessarily a correlation between sex ed and higher gonorrhea rates dude, those statistics do not necessarily mean that, it can be explained by other factors... that's it... you have got quite a imagination lol
Then what do you mean by the term 'demographics'? You said the rate of STD's was a function of demographics. You mentioned poverty, too, but made the distinction between poverty and 'demographics'.
Let's not bull**** the troops. 'Demographics' means race. Right?
