Students around the world go on strike protesting climate change

It can be important to remember that Greta Thunberg is not alone that many young people have for long time taken action and making the voices heard. There also Greta Thunberg is clear in her message that you should listen to the scientists and that she is just one of many voices that demand action.

"There are many more whose names we rarely, if ever, hear. Yet, frustratingly, these other activists are often referred to in the media as the “Greta Thunberg” of their country, or are said to be following in her footsteps, even in cases where they began their public activism long before she started hers – their own identities and work almost completely erased by a western media that rarely recognises progress outside its own part of the world.

This tendency of the media to present Thunberg as the one who calls, and the others existing only to heed her call, is problematic, especially for those black and brown activists whose media invisibility leads to invisibility to organisations whose help they could greatly benefit from. This “white saviour” narrative invalidates the impact of locals working in their communities, and perpetuates the stereotype of “the native with no agency” who cannot help themselves. As an African I find these portrayals deeply offensive. It is insulting to present the members of the communities most threatened by climate change as passive onlookers who are only now being spurred on by the “Thunberg effect”."

It’s not just Greta Thunberg: why are we ignoring the developing world’s inspiring activists? | Chika Unigwe | Opinion | The Guardian

That doesn't address my point. The IPCC, whoever they are, are still asking us to upend our lifestyle or pay up regarding unproven hypotheses.

Unproven?

It’s pretty certain.

LOL a graph with 99% made up (proxy) data. That's not proof, that's bull****.

NOAA temperature measurements are "made up"? Link? If not, this belongs in the CT forum.

It’s not proxy data. But I’m guessing you don’t even know what proxy data is.

The funny thing is that this data was generated by people who thought the NASA data was made up data.

LOL did NASA and the NOAA exist in the 1860s? Yes or no? You're both clueless as always.

Students around the world go on strike protesting climate change-In a global show of solidarity, students all over the world have gone on strike today to get world leaders to do more about climate change. This is the coming generation, and they feel that the older generations are betraying them and letting them down. They are not going to be in school. Their teachers, as well as the mayors of their cities are supporting them. Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish student who testified in the US congress recently, has become their idol. Whereas before the teen hairstyle rage all over the world was to try to look like Ariana Grande, now all the rage is having hair that looks like Greta's.

************************.

The US is not a world leader anymore.
The nomenclature "strike" is misleading as in many cases the term "students." The term "strike" implies the collective withholding of something of value, usually labor. The term "student" involves a person engaged in learning. Sheep being herded are quite distinct from active learners. Shouting pre-set slogans does not equal active participation in an academic setting. And I am quite sure that a "student" expressing a contrary view from the crowd will be trampled by fellow sheeple. And to call Greta Thunberg's speechifying "testimony" is also inaccurate. "Testimony" is generally derived from firsthand knowledge.

Climate protests and strikes continues all across the world every week. For example i Denver, last Friday.

"Young people must be prepared to strike for a long time for action on climate change and not back down, the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has told a rally in Denver.

Thunberg said she and fellow youth activists would not beg those in power to act because she expected leaders to keep ignoring them.

“We will instead tell them, if they won’t do it, we will,” the 16-year-old said to loud cheers on Friday. “The world is waking up and we are the change. The change is coming whether you like it or not.”

Thunberg spoke for several minutes to a crowd of several thousand at Civic Center Park near the state capitol building. The rally highlighted Colorado activists, like Madhvi Chittoor, 8, who has campaigned in the state against plastics."

Now you’re just embarassing yourself.

But thanks for showing that your denial is based almost entirely in ignorance. It was obvious before, but this helps clarify it better.

Let's prove how little you know- is proxy data direct metereological measurements? Yes or no.

In other words, you don’t know and have to ask someone.

Wrong. I know what the answer is. I'm guessing you dont. Again, is proxy data direct metereological measurements? Yes or no.

Since I addressed this one post above yours but it was ignored, please see my response:

The freedom of the resources used to fight a hoax, and the opportunity cost associated with it.

If you knew the answer you wouldn’t have made the ridiculous comment that started this all.

The comment is spot on- its your's thats wrong. Proxy data isnt actual data, so you fail, as usual.

LOL.

‘Isn’t actual data’.

Hilarious. I know you didn’t really understand the definition of ‘proxy’, but I had no idea that you also don’t understand the definition of ‘data’!
