Early voting in the Georgia Senate runoffs is breaking records — and Democrats have reasons for hope in the numbers.
Democrats are buoyed by the strong early vote numbers, which show Black voters making up a larger percentage of the electorate than in November and higher early turnout in Democratic congressional districts in the state. Both are positive signs for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, the two challengers, easing fears that the typical voter dropoff that has plagued Democrats in past years would doom the party's chances with control of the Senate on the line.
Meanwhile, early-vote turnout has lagged in Republican-held congressional districts, likely leaving GOP Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue with a larger deficit heading into Election Day than they had to make up on Nov. 3, with early voting concluding this week leading up to the New Year's holiday.
One Republican operative working on the runoffs, who requested anonymity to speak frankly, said the GOP’s problem for early voting wasn’t a massive surge among Democrats, but the lag in their own areas. With early voting taking place during the holidays, including the two days where locations were closed last week, Republicans hope more of their voters are simply planning to vote on Election Day.
My gut feeling is Dems may pick-up one seat (Perdue/Ossoff). Though I admit that doesn't make much sense, because I find it hard to believe there would be much ticket-splitting between the two races. But, you never know?Hopefully the Dems win both seats, that is the only way to erase all of the crap that Trump has done to this country.
Right. Exactly. The good news is Dems are running several points higher here than they just did in the November Presidential election! That's unheard of & unprecedented Dem turnout in a GA run-off!Republicans tend to show up on the day of election, so hopefully early Dem votes are enough to hold them off.
Let's face it. Unless the fraud from early voting is stopped in its tracks right now, Democrats will never have a reason to stop cheating.Strong early-vote turnout gives Dems hope in Georgia runoffs
Democrats are encouraged by stats that show their voters are overperforming with early voting set to conclude later this week.www.politico.com
It appears there's some positive signs for Dems in the GA early-voting stats. The article is chock-full of details, and I've included some excerpts above. But, I do suggest reading the article - if you're so inclined.
As have I. But, I am cautiously optimistic due to the unique nature of the election. Abrams has been on a tear registering and turning-out the black vote like nothing ever seen in GA. She has beaten the earlier November early vote, handily.I've already resigned myself to 2-4 years of obstruction, but at least with sanity at the helm.
I would love to be proven wrong (but then there's Manchin)

You never know? With typical voter participation in the 50% range, there's lots of room for improvement. Black men & women saw recent history, in GA electing Biden - a Dem. That just may open-up their eyes to the possibilities, and motivate them including those that sat on the sidelines in November who never expected a Biden win.
This might be a Georgia MLK '63 type 'March on Washington' moment, where the Civil Rights Act seemed possible for the first time.
Much as I'd love to see us win, Republican voters just seem to always come through for these horrific candidates.Strong early-vote turnout gives Dems hope in Georgia runoffs

Exactly. Many of whom have voted absentee. Imagine that, Democrats continue to actually take a pandemic seriously while Republicans blow it off.
I agree. It's still GA, after all.Much as I'd love to see us win, Republican voters just seem to always come through for these horrific candidates.
Remember how the the early voting data looked in NC, and we lost by 1% when it was all over.
Let's be real. Dems winning would be a massive upset - even just one seat.
Peddle your C.T. somewhere else, my friend. Not interested.Let's face it. Unless the fraud from early voting is stopped in its tracks right now, Democrats will never have a reason to stop cheating.

Chomsky, any thoughts on why early voting is down by 625,000 compared to the general election? If one concludes that Democrats are more likely to vote early are they just not as enthusiastic about this election?Strong early-vote turnout gives Dems hope in Georgia runoffs

Republican whining is music to my ears. Cry some more!Let's face it. Unless the fraud from early voting is stopped in its tracks right now, Democrats will never have a reason to stop cheating.

And it is . . . Georgia!Let’s not get too far ahead our ourselves, Republicans running this state still have plenty of suppression to work on.
You'll be crying if the Marxists succeed in taking over the country. What makes you think you'll be spared?Republican whining is music to my ears. Cry some more!

I recommend you sit home and never vote again against the all powerful Democrats who are taking over the world. At least you won't get COVID.You'll be crying if the Marxists succeed in taking over the country. What makes you think you'll be spared?
If that's true, then Republican voting is really down. Maybe they're all waiting for election day.I'm not sure where you got the 625K number, but my O.P. article claims early voting in Dem districts is exceeding that of the Presidential election.
So, are you saying the total GA early-ote is 625K down?
