Seriously?? So some really bad people can gain entrance to the country because they were raped? Wow.. learn something every day. I live in AZ, and am pretty (very) anti- illegal immigration oriented, now I find another loophole in the law, and this one is LEGAL. Geez.. discouraging to me..
a most excellent point though I admit I enjoyed seeing a Eurosocialist in hot water.
I disagree that he should sue. If ever there was a flight risk he is it. As for perp walks-- happens all the time. [/url]
Just because a bad practice "happens all the time" does not mean that it should be permitted to continue without opposition. Any practice that is carried out that undercuts a presumption of innocence is a bad one.
If Mr. Strauss-Kahn is acquitted or the case is dropped, I believe he should seek substantial damages from NYC, the NYC Police Department, and the officers who participated in parading him before the media and public in handcuffs. Were he to win damages that were sufficiently sizable, that award might create a disincentive for a continuation of a practice that, quite frankly, contributes nothing to the nation's rule of law framework.
It's difficult to know for sure whether the allegations are true or not. I am more inclined to believe that he was set-up in a honeypot sting. The powers that be wanted Strauss-Kahn out of the IMF. It doesn't matter whether the charges stick or not. That wasn't the point. The point was to remove him from IMF and/or install Christine Lagarde. Lagarde is now the head of the IMF and the Stauss-Kahn incident begins to fall apart. Mission accomplished. A scenario entirely possible.
It was probably the French conservative party's doing. Lagarde is a conservative minister and Strauss-Kahn is a socialist. Everything works out fine for the French conservative party if you ask me. Sarkozy's big opponent is out, she's in the IMF, and Strauss-Kahn is ruined. I hope for his sake he pulls out of this and beats Sarkozy's ***** ass.
I'm inclined to believe about anything at this point. Certainly a politically-motivated setup, given Strauss-Kahn's reputation for unwanted sexual advances. The whole thing reeks.
As for Strauss-Kahn having a lawsuit against NYC, that's ridiculous. He was not treated any differently than any other high-profile suspect with an international passport and the means to use it. Maybe he should spend some of his fortune to investigate just who set him up, and why... presuming he is innocent of rape, which I doubt anyone except he and the maid will ever know for certain.
If this is a political plot, I wish the Europeans would keep such unpleasant shenanigans on their own continent.

the alleged rape of the African hotel maid looks like a loser of a case for the DA
Here's the letter from the DA's office.

Whatever HE is, this woman is a complete fraud. Read and see. I really hope she is deported. I admit I got sucked in on this one. I believed her. UGHHH......
So which is itWell, that scumbag picked the right person to rape. She now has zero credibility.
