Here is the headline of an opinion article that appeared in 2013 in the Guardian. (I no longer read that British paper that has become so woke.)

It reads: "News is bad for you -- and giving up reading it will make you happier."

The smaller headlines underneath read: "News is bad for your health. It leads to fear and aggression, and hinders your creativity and ability to think deeply. The solution? Stop consuming it altogether."

The article was written by Rolf Dobelli. He states that if one wants to be informed, s/he should read only long articles or books.

If you want to read his article, I assume it can be found online. This computer illiterate old geezer (84 years old) does not know how to link.

I just wanted to bring his views to the attention of anyone who has been thinking about the wisdom of being a news junkie.

I suggest you learn how to link. I know you can do it. This is from one "old geezer" to another.

Besides the article you want people to search for is 8 years old. Not worth my time for possible opinion piece.

I think what the OP is trying to say is: "turn FoxNews off". He has long decried the "MSM". This is new.

Only thing that truly bothers me is the lack of in-depth reporting on certain subjects. Even on the evening news, one gets the headlines and a little bit more and then 1/3 of the time left
telling us about a lost dog that came home after 3 months or other exciting must-hear stories.
The local news is even much worse: A new McDonalds is going to open on Bee Ridge road!.. AND also> "A minor actor on 3's Company (25 years ago) is going to visit Sarasota!!"
How exciting.

Why should I, or anyone for that matter, care about the 8 year old musings of author Rolf Dobelli? I read the news every morning and usually find the exercise informative and relaxing.

And judging from your posts in the Russia/Ukraine/Belarus forum, you are no "Moderate".

Watching TV for news is nonsense. News is best read. Score one for "good old days".

Thank you for your kindness to this old man by linking to that article.

Oh, no, I could not copy and paste unless someone sat at my side and directed me. I do not even have a smartphone, so I have no idea how to download an app, for example. I guess an app can be downloaded on my desktop computer, but I would need an instructor sitting at my side.

I depend on young whippersnappers like you for help.
