Klaus von Stauffenberg.

The guy and his Team were morally correct in trying to stop Adolf Hitler, as he tried to end the fiasco and suffering caused by the Nazi regime.

Stauffenberg was a German army officer and was a key figure in the 20 July 1944 assassination plot, known as Operation Valkyrie, which aimed to kill Hitler and overthrow the Nazi government. The plot failed when Hitler survived the bomb, leading to the execution of Stauffenberg and many others involved.

Stauffenberg’s actions were totally justified because Hitler was not just a maniac but his leadership led to the deaths of millions during the Holocaust and World War II. Stauffenberg and the conspirators believed removing Hitler was necessary to prevent further bloodshed. While violent resistance is often debated, Stauffenberg’s attempt to stop a genocidal regime can be seen as morally defensible.

Stauffenberg was motivated by a desire to stop more German, military and civilian, deaths by means of an armistice with the UK and US . but not Russia. There is no evidence that he cared about Jews and other holocaust victims. I would be a bit careful about using words like morality. Pity Hitler survived; what would have happened if he had died will be forever unknown.

One can't help but feel Stauffenberg acted in part out of ambition - as if he thought he might somehow manage to be running things himself when the dust settled.

Otherwise, why plant a bomb and then leave? Why not just walk into the room, walk up to Hitler and detonate the bomb right there? He would have died, but the plot would have succeeded.

Stauffenberg opposed Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime, it's important to understand that his actions do not make him a "good Nazi." or a moral person. He attempted to kill Hitler and end the war. This was to save Germany and prevent further atrocities, not to defend or support Nazi ideology.

There’s no evidence to prove he didn’t care about the Jews or other holocaust victims either. It took a lot of balls to do what he and some others did to try to save Germany.

There is no evidence that he was not aghast at the wanton slaughter of innocent people...

Gee, I wonder if the reason he did not blow himself up is that he did not want to be blown up.

Not to sound like a smartass, but I think "tried to kill Hitler" is probably the easiest way to score moral points in history.

and he was needed to lead the Rebellion

he was very brave!

Suicide bombing is a relatively new thing, isn't it?

Sounds like a veiled threat to encourage someone to assassinate Trump. Just like with Comey.

My opinion.

They were one huge oak table leg away, strangely diverted the blow, from killing him without suicide bombing.

You are confusing one Axis power, Germany, with another, Japan. Kamikaze wasn’t Germans’ style.

Reminds me of an old story about when the idea of Kamikaze first was discussed. Room is full of pilots and the Japanese instructor speaks:
“The war is not going well, so here’s the plan that will turn things around. Your planes will be loaded with explosives, and you will approach the American fleet. You will choose a ship and head straight for it. You will crash into the ship and your plane will explode, sinking the vessel for the glory of the Emperor. Any questions?”

Little guy in the back of the room raises his hand.

“Are you out of your ****ing mind?”

If that were only true.😵

I agree that walking up to him would have been the way to do it... but surely he could have smuggled in a pistol or hand grenade and done the same thing without destroying a nice large well built table.

While it is difficult to know for sure:

[Claus] asked, “Can the church grant absolution to a murderer who has taken the life of a tyrant?” Ultimately, he felt that his conscience was clear, as he stated, “We took this challenge before our Lord and our conscience, and it must be done, because this man, Hitler, he is the ultimate evil.”
his devout Catholicism created quite an existential dilemma, and I think he made the right choice.

Given the list of attendees I would imagine his body guards didn’t think it was possible.
