She is so eloquent. She just explains in 10 steps how our country is moving toward Autocracy and how other countries have gone through the same. A cautionary tale for sure.

It should be pointed out that if the threat of autocracy is real and a very hollow academic analysis of the threat of autocracy on late night talk shows is what "resistance" amounts to, we won't just get autocracy, but we will deserve it.

It's not contrarian to say that Trump is just as much a consequence of banal leftism as it is trailer park MAGA angst.

Oh interesting. Does it include ripping down norms by refusing to accept the results of an election?

No candidate ever refused the courtesy of a public concession before Abrams?

You sure about that?

I assume that is what you meant because she did accept the results of the election.

If people weren't allowed to challenge elections, then we would have likely had the Gore presidency.

Good point but bad example. The votes as counted after that Tuesday in 2000 had Bush winning the election, and it was Gore that challenged the result.

Yes, there was a bit of back and forth, which is my point. Candidates are fine challenging elections within preexisting legal mechanisms. It only becomes a problem if you have idiots attempting to do things like invade congress and overthrow the government and at that point labels such as "election denier" begin to apply. Another example is what just went down in the NC supreme court race, where results were legally challenged by the Rep candidate for months, but the Dem candidate ended up winning.

Agreed.

Hard to believe that the grandchildren of our World War II Vets would welcome authoritarianism. They learned nothing from their grandparents.

Dam she is eloquent and articulate!

Lol, criticizing someone for questioning an election as the GOP makes trying to nefariously overturn them their norm.

Stacey Abrams, a Leftist grifter, refused to accept the results of an election that she lost. By the standards of her own party, that makes her a wannabe autocrat.

Not contrarian, just ****ing stupid.

Stacey Abrams (and apparently you) don’t understand that what MAGA proposes is far worse than fascism, but not because of the authoritarian overreach.

At least under fascism there is order and the trains run on time. With MAGA you still get the authoritarian overreach, but you also get worship of the inane, stupid and ignorant. There’s no Roman revival idealism and aesthetic architecture, it’s just fat retards sweating in the sun slurping down their big gulps, yelling slurs at Mexicans.

Many liberal aspirants remain unconvincing because they’ve subconsciously ingested the ‘fallen America’ narrative, which they’ll never articulate better than MAGA. It’s going to take an intelligent idealist, not another overeducated midwit giving 7th grade history lessons about dictatorship.

Maybe she can explain how Trump plans to get rid of congress and the courts.

I would argue that with looking through your perspective of separating MAGA from traditional fascism, even under traditional fascism (and authoritarianism in general) you tend to get the worship of the inane, stupid, and ignorant. Examples include the sheer stupidity and vain behavior among European aristocracy for pretty much its entire existence, the behavior of dictators like Nero in Rome, the obvious insanity of Hitler, the pointless creation of monuments that don't actually help people like much of what survives in tenochtitlan and subsequent genocide by Cortés's group, mass deaths under Stalinism, and the cutting off of the railways in New York when monopolists were grumpy. All of those things garnered their worshipers and well wishers even though they did nothing to help people or make society any more efficient or functional. At best, you can say they created some temporary mythology (which history is littered with).

Talk about a day late and a dollar short... that is the thing about Stacey Abrams, always late to the game politically speaking.

She may often be late to the party, but she always comes dressed up to the nines as a race victim.

Bys simply ignoring they exist. But he is already doing that.
If Trump could just ignore everything he wouldn't need to file lawsuits.
