Wow, you don't say.
Now show me a single 14 year old that has ever assasinated the President of the United States of America.

using your logic we shouldn't investigate ASIANS, BLACKS, FEMALES etc if they threaten the president since all the killers of american presidents have been white males.

I can list dozens of murders committed by teenagers including many of the school shootings that cause liberals to scream for banning my legal guns because some kid illegally possessed and used guns. Yet you are upset when kids are questioned for making a death threat

If I am held for questioning and I don't want to be, can I decline and walk away?
I was curious and found this site.
http://www.ohiocitylaw.com/your_rights_when_arrested.htm
Questioning without arrest
A police officer may stop you in a public place to request information. This is called a “consensual” encounter. In this situation he may demand identification and even ask to search your belongings. You are free to leave at any time.

If the officer reasonably suspects that you are committing, have committed or are about to commit a crime he may detain you. This is called a “Terry stop.” This detention must only last as long as it takes the officer to confirm or dispel his suspicions. He may demand to know your name, address and an explanation of your actions and may frisk you if he suspects that you have weapons or instruments that could cause injury.

If he finds a dangerous weapon or instrument on you, he may keep it until he finishes questioning you. If he does not arrest you, he must give you back the weapon (provided you have a permit to carry it). If the police officer, while searching you for dangerous weapons, finds anything else on you which is a crime to possess, he may take it, and arrest you for possessing it.

I can see how they need to investigate any threats against the president but speaking to the girl by herself without her parent(s) present was a little absurd in that it puts them in an awkward PR spot.
I like the "unnecessarily mean " part, that cracked me up, here this girl put a "Kill the president" thing on the Internet, starting an investigation wasting their time (I'm sure the SS officers would rather be chasing a real threat then questioning 14 yr old girls) and our tax money and she thinks they're mean because they spoke to her for about 15 minutes? Most likely they asked her name asked why she did it and told her not to do it anymore and then left that's pretty much all you could get in 15 minutes of talking to a 14 year old. I also found it odd that her mother would text her a message saying they were looking for her and then not go get her, talk about stressing your kid out, nice parenting skills there.

practical plans

Just because they dont have a "good tactical plan" does not mean someone cannot be dangerous.

School Shootings in America

April 20, 1999, Littleton, Colorado
Eric Harris, age 18, and Dylan Klebold, age 17, open fire in suburban Columbine High School, killing a teacher and 14 students—including themselves—and injuring 28 others. In addition to some 30 home-made bombs found in and around the school, police report that there were two shotguns, a 9mm semi-automatic rifle, and a pistol used in the shooting.

June 15, 1998, Richmond, Virginia
A male teacher and a female volunteer are shot in a hallway by 14-year-old Quinshawn Booker, who was trying to settle an argument with another student at Armstrong High School. The man suffers an injury to the abdomen that was not life threatening; the woman is reportedly grazed. Firearm used: .32 pistol.

May 21, 1998, Springfield, Oregon
Fifteen-year-old freshman Kip Kinkel, expelled the day before for bringing a gun to school, allegedly opens fire in the school cafeteria. Two students are killed. The suspect's parents are later found shot dead in their home. According to Springfield police, all three guns Kinkel used in the shooting came from his home. He owned the rifle himself, and both handguns belonged to his father. Firearms used: .22 Ruger rifle, 9mm Glock pistol, and .22 Ruger pistol.

May 19, 1998, Fayetteville, Tennessee
Three days before his graduation, an 18-year-old honor student, Jacob Lee Davis, allegedly opens fire in a parking lot at Lincoln County High School, killing a classmate who was dating his ex-girlfriend. The firearm used in the shooting belonged to Davis' father. Police report that the gun was stored openly against the bedroom wall when it was taken. Firearm used: .22 Marlin bolt-action rifle with seven-round capacity.

April 28, 1998, Pomona, California
Two teenage boys are shot to death and a third is wounded at Philadelphia Elementary School after classes had ended. The boys went to the school grounds with the intention of two people fighting. Fourteen year-old Joseph Martinez is convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 17 years in prison. The shooting is blamed on rivalry between two groups of youths. Although the gun was never retrieved, police report 9mm casings at the scene.

April 24, 1998, Edinboro, Pennsylvania
A 48- year-old science teacher at James W. Parker Middle School is shot to death in front of students at a graduation dance by 14-year-old student Andrew Wurst. Wurst also wounds two other students; one is shot in the back and another in the foot. Pennsylvania State Police report that the firearm used in the shooting came from Wurst's home and was normally stored unlocked in his father's dresser. Police also report that several weeks before the shooting, Wurst had taken the gun out and fired it. Firearm used: .25 Raven pistol.

March 24, 1998, Jonesboro, Arkansas
Four girls and a teacher are shot to death and 10 others are wounded during a false fire alarm at Westside Middle School when two boys, Mitchell Johnson, age13, and Andrew Golden, age 11, open fire from the woods. Both are convicted in juvenile court of murder and can be held in custody up to age 21. The guns used in the shooting were stolen from the home of Doug Golden, grandfather of Andrew Golden. Doug Golden is a gun collector who owns hundreds of firearms and is also a licensed gun dealer. Police report that there was no forced entry into Doug Golden's gun storage room at the time of the burglary, and it is unclear if the room was locked at the time. Firearms used: .30-06 Remington rifle, Universal .30 carbine, and Ruger .44 magnum rifle.

December 1, 1997, West Paducah, Kentucky
Three students are killed and five others wounded while they take part in a prayer circle in a hallway at Heath High School. Fourteen-year-old student Michael Carneal pleads guilty but mentally ill to murder and is serving life in prison. One of the wounded girls is left paralyzed. Police report that the stolen gun used in the shooting held at least a 10-round magazine. Firearm used: .22 Ruger pistol.

October 1, 1997, Pearl, Mississippi
Sixteen year-old Luke Woodham is accused of killing his mother, then going to Pearl High School and shooting nine students. Two of them die, including the suspect's ex-girlfriend. The student is sentenced to two life sentences plus 144 years in prison, including 25 years in solitary confinement. According to police, the gun involved in the shooting belonged to Woodham's brother and was taken from an unlocked closet prior to the shooting. One other person, a friend of Woodham, awaits trial on accessory charges. Firearm used: Marlin .30-30 lever-action rifle.

February 19, 1997, Bethel, Alaska
Sixteen year-old Evan Ramsey opens fire with a shotgun in a common area at Bethel Regional High School, killing the principal and a student. Two students are wounded. Authorities later accuse two other students of knowing the shootings would take place. Police report that the firearm used in the shooting belonged to Ramsey's foster sibling and was stored openly in the home when it was taken by Ramsey. Evan Ramsey was sentenced to two 99-year terms. Firearm used: Mossberg 12-gauge pump shotgun.

Perhaps if some of these kids had been "checked out" some dangerous difficulties might have been avoided.
Secret Service was right to gather information on a potential threat.
That is all.

That is kind of strange. Perhaps it has something to do with the target of said violence. Check the forums and there are a couple of posters who on and off issue death threats against the POTUS depending on the availability of their meds for the day.

Shouldn't this be in the History thread?

Oh, wait, it's the neo-SS....

my bad :3oops:

BUSH is da BOMB i'm so glad he's the president of AMERICA, especially after 9-11.

How long before they come to get me?

Your right to act the jackass seems completely unfettered as of yet.

do you honestly believe -in this day and age-an "idiot" can be elected president? I tire of the juvenile insults of Bush that have no basis in fact
Yep I do, because the mass of the American populice is no more knowledgeable. Bush is an idiot, there's no point in denying that.
Worst of all though, he's a stubborn idiot that resents criticism. As are much of the GOP today.

:roflSeriously, how did you relate my investigation of adolescents with race?

A non-sense threat that one sight by any investigative agent should've realized was a waste of time - the kid might be stupid as kids are, but obviously no one who has the means to assasinate a president.
SEriously, what has our country come to when even kids threaten the safety of the president and hence national security.

How is an investigator supposed to know that without err investigating?

My bad, allow me to elaborate further what I meant by "one sight"
The article noted that the girl was taken out of her classroom then questioned. Any field agent once at the windows of the classroom and the principle (as is the typical fashion when any agent is in a school) points her out, it should've been obvious it was a waste of time. Or for that matter, upon realization that this was a 14 year old that was under investigation should sent light bulbs alight.

So is some massive multi million dollar investigation ensuing or did she just go back to class or home?

She was only spoken to for about 15 minutes and that was that. Now she gets to whine and not take any responsibility for being stupid enough to not know that it is illegal to threaten another's life which lead her to accidentally commit a felony and waste the SS's time and our tax dollars.

Edited for spelling.

Exactly the point. Thank you.:applaud

That's a strawman. It doesn't matter, point was that it was simply nonsense and a waste of time.

Blame that on the parents, and the lawyers.
The point is that this was actually taken so seriously is what boggles me - seriously, lets review, the girl posted the information on Myspace, there's really no secret there about it, no conspiracy.

But then, we really need to cut the SS some slack ppl, they have no choice int he matter, they just have to go by the book.

Sorry, but I could not help but laugh at that article.

She pointed out a heart that she stenciled on her backpack to help convince us that she is a "peace-loving person," yet she has "Kill Bush" across the top of her myspace page....lol.

One would think that a high school student who claims to be so darn "politically passionate" might have known or at least thought that it isn't such a good idea to wish the nation's president dead on a public message board. I truly hope this girl finishes school.

History lesson....Remember Sara Jane Moore and Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme? They attempted to kill President Ford, separately, in September 1975...

I will write this off as childish nonsense. Your rant has no merit. Next time the GOP nominates "an idiot" you donkeys would be better served not finding two men with lower academic and/or intellectual standings than the "idiot" to run.

Just because an individual writes "kill Bush" on a Myspace page does not mean that they themselves are going to go through with it. This kid can't even drive yet!

I understand why the SS would investigate this case, simply because they had to follow procedures. But I agree that pulling the child out of the middle of class and in front of all of her classmates is a little too much, let alone the fact that they actually considered this little girl a threat to our President, who is so incredibly protected by SS.

I don't think this is SS really did anything wrong, I just think they went a little overboard in how they went about this.

OF course I do but the lesson is needed by you to actually read what I was responding to

Note he said assasinated, NOT ATTEMPTED assassinations. If he had said attempted assassinations I would have deleted FEMALE.

It was a lesson for her, people in authority do it all the time. Kids are picked up for underage drinking, let them spend a night in jail. Is it overboard? Yeah. Will she ever do it again? My bets are on no.
