The crap Mexico exports to the US is already overpriced. This is meant to be a negotiation not a threat.

Trumps' most recent brain fart regarding a 20% tax is just another indication that Trump may be exhibiting signs of senile dementia. Such pure dumbassery would cause massive problems for the very people who voted for der Trumper. It would cost Americans dearly. I recommend that people who voted for Trump pick up the tab.
It's like trying to untangle a box of coat hangers. So many things are connected in so many ways that the unintended consequences would be a nightmare. More than 6 million American jobs depend on trade with Mexico. The economies of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California would go into a death spiral if such an idiotic thing happened. Does Trump understand that? No. Not unless it is discussed on FoxNews.
P.S. Mexico knows full well that Trump cannot do anything so stupid without destroying his own country.

So Mexico won't pay for the wall, but US consumers.
Really? OK. What is overpriced and by how much?
Please be very specific.
You're poking in the dark, and the Trump administration is making it up as they go along.
Both are failing strategies.
To which Mexico will just remind Trump that he doesn't have the authority to impose such a tax and they'll hedge their bets with our Congress.
What threat? "If you don't pay for a ****ing wall that you don't want and that we know won't have the desired effect we promise to trash our own economy and then you'll be sorry." That's brilliant.

That's how business works.
That's how business works.
And they will lose.
Not successful business. No business model I've seen looks like that.
Not likely. Congress has already signaled that it isn't interested in Trump's proposal.
Maybe the Dems..
Mostly the crappy furniture and craft items that are so popular. I had a customer who dealt in Mexican home decor.
Commerce between the two countries will not suffer after Mexico comes to it's senses.
That's not a business model. It's a negotiating technique.
